JES Scholars?

Anyone got an email about that yet?

Gah. No. Checking that and my portal obsessively.
I applied by the ED deadline but under RD…still no decision…I hope they tell me if I got in soooon :(

Ah, well, I suppose they’ll inform us in a couple of days. I just don’t know exactly which of those days.

I’m also waiting for the notification. Yeah, I was checking a bunch of the older threads and it seems like they’ve sent out the notifications either on the first or second week. Oh hey, Larentia, I’m from TX, too! Haha.

I just got the notification in my email. I’m not being considered for a scholarship…

Good luck to the rest of you though!

AAH I’M A FINALIST. … Does this mean I got in? Never got an acceptance letter, hahahahah

Paintmuffin, YAAY. I’M ONE, TOO. LOL I’m not sure if this means we got in or not, either. >_>

Congratulations, you two. Unfortunately, I’m not a finalist myself. Here’s to hoping I manage to obtain the other ones though.

Awww :frowning: Not a finalist. Congrats to you two! Stats?

not a finalist either… i kind of thought I would be, since my stats are pretty high for Scripps. Disappointing. People who were accepted/chosen as scholarship finalists, what are your stats?

in a nutshell: 2230 SAT, 3.8ish UW GPA, three AP’s last year and three this year, prospective pure math major, leadership in set design, white/asian

hmmm i wonder what i was missing… i have a 3.905 UW gpa, 2300 single-sitting SAT, 5 APs before this year and 4 this year. I’m the cofounder of a nonprofit and a club, and have done a couple other internships in my areas of interest, as well as being dedicated to a sport. I’m white and asian as well and a prospective bio major.

Maybe because my class rank is rather low? Since my school is competitive and weights GPA strangely for calculating class rank? Idk.

Paintmuffin, are your ECs (the set design leadership stuff) really really outstanding? Not to pry but I’m really disappointed and I’m trying to figure out where I went wrong… :’(

I’m basically in charge of the set crew for every production that goes up at my school (which is several per year), and it took a lot of time and effort to work my way up to my position as Artistic Director, but the funny part is that I don’t think Scripps ever received the recommendation from my mentor that explained all that! It didn’t show up on the portal’s list of documents received. I didn’t even send in my visual arts supplement until a week ago. There’s other EC stuff on my resume but nothing really significant.

My school is public, doesn’t rank, and doesn’t offer any more AP courses than I’ve taken, so maybe that’s it. I’m also a legacy at Scripps but I can’t see how that would factor into scholarship competitions–admissions itself, maybe, but not merit aid!

You sound like a very strong applicant! Don’t freak out. If you dig far enough back into this forum you’ll find that being a finalist doesn’t even guarantee an acceptance letter somehow, and obviously vice versa.

Not a finalist either. I’m a little surprised. 2170 SAT, 3.98 UW GPA, strong extra curriculars and community service. Maybe my essays werent that great? My personal statement was excellent but I didnt put that much work into my supplement…? Congrats you two! I hope not being a finalist for this scholarship doesnt mean I wont get in =(

I’m a finalist! 34 ACT, 3.9 GPA at a competitive boarding school, and about 500 hours of community service. Sorry to hear about those who didn’t get in, you sounded like really strong applicants. :(

Also, does anyone know what percentage of the finalists will end up getting scholarships? I’ve gone from excited to nervous because I know I won’t be able to afford Scripps without one.

hi paintmuffin, i don’t think anything from your arts supplement would show up individually in your portal because it was sent along with your common application. when i hit print preview it was the last pages of my common app.

Nah, I didn’t use the CommonApp arts supplement. Just sent Scripps a CD with my portfolio on it on December 28…
