I have a friend who said John Hopkins sent the school a letter inviting him to take some test. He took it and apparently JHU gave him a scholarship. He was saying that it was to the college (not the CTY program) , but when I googled it, it seemed like all there was is the CTY. Did he confuse a summer program scholarship with the actual college, or do they really do this? BTW, we're not even in high school.

Do you live near JHU? When you take the test to qualify for CTY, if you score high enough, you will receive free courses to a participating college near you. I have never heard of anyone receiving a scholarship for actually attending the college as an undergraduate student, if that is what you and your friend are saying.

That would make a lot more sense. Yes, he was talking as if it was to the actual college (he was saying his dream school was Columbia, not JHU.) Because he wasn’t interested, he could’ve made a mistake in the specifics. Thanks!
