Does anyone know if the econ department at JHU is good? Are there any newspaper articles or rankings about it? Thanks!

yeah I would like to know also.

JHU is best known for Biomed Engineering and International Relations. If you're looking for a strong econ department, I'd choose U Chicago or MIT (tied for 1st in rankings), or any of HYP. Even Pomona college's (ranked #6 in Liberal Arts econ dept is stronger than JHU's).

George Mason has a better Econ. program than Hopkins.

Actually the Economics major at Hopkins is quite strong, especially if you are looking for a true research-based form of study. Economics, Political Science, and International Studies at Hopkins are all considered top social science programs due to the research aspect of our institution. You should check-out the Department's website: http://www.econ.jhu.edu/undergraduate.html

And if you visit campus, try to arrange to meet with faculty or staff in the Department or sit in on an econ class to get a real feel for the program.

chlor- do you happen to have a link for the econ rankings you're referring to?

This is her source.

Unless you're a subscriber you U.S. News Best Graduate Schools Online Edition, you'll only get the first few highest ranked schools.
