JHU ED Chance me please :)

Hello! I’m going to grade 11 in Toronto, and I wanted to apply to JHU ED for Neuro/Premed. I’m in the TOPS program in Toronto, which is a highly competitive and advanced science and math program and so, marks aren’t as great, and so, if you could tell me if i’m on the right path, that would be awesome.

Planning to major in Neuro/Premed
Objective:
SAT I: Probably around 1580+ from all the practice test I’ve taken
SAT II: Math II 780, Biology 780 (this is just projected, probably higher b/c I’ve learnt all the material anyways)
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.94
OK i kind of need help figuring out my GPA, this is just what a website told me when it converted from ontario to usa (could someone help me pls)
Rank: Top 5%

APs: Bio, BC Calculus, and maybe physics (all 5s)
*My school doesn’t offer AP courses, and so, I have to take the exams

Subjective:

Summer: Doing research and working this summer, next summer I’m going to Harvard to intern in a neuro lab (if I get a placement at JHU instead, should I go there, or would Harvard look more impressive?)

Other
Country: Canada
School Type: Public (Considered one of the best bc of the program I’m in)
Ethnicity: Asian, Sri lankan
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: 300,000+ (although, most goes to my dad’s health bill )

Essay: I’d say the essay I’ve drafted and played around with so far is really good because it’s captivating, but I’d rather not say my hook simply bc I’m not applying yet

Questions: Would it be more advantageous for me to apply ED rather than RD? If I get a placement at JHU for next summer instead, should I go there, or would Harvard look more impressive? Need help figuring out my GPA (Do i convert from Ontario to USA, or just give a raw GPA? Do I average everything first and convert, or put in all of my marks and convert?)

Thanks!

I’m just going to preface this by saying that I’m sure that you’re a probably a wonderful and intelligent person, but there are several things wrong with this post

  1. GPA: even though you're in a competitive program(that I don't even know how competitive it is), the majority of Hopkins and top 20 college applicants and students come from very competitive schools. Even if it has affected your GPA, admissions staff don't factor it in a ton. The way to see if your GPA is good is simple: have you had all As with only one or two Bs? Then you're on the right track. That being said, 3.94 UW is a perfectly respectable number.
  2. Test scores: sure, you might've gotten a 1600 on that practice test you took and did great in bio and math, but don't waste our(current students and other applicants) time with projected scores. Factors like nerves, time, and the location can lower your score.
  3. ECs: regarding the clubs, they seem impressive enough, but it just looks like you're doing them because you want the resume builders. Unless you spend at least 4-5 hours a week on each club, they might not count for much, although your leadership positions do count for something. Your list of awards is also impressive. My question is: how many of those are on the state, national, or international level? Research: first off, it doesn't really matter which lab you go to. Also, try to make sure that you aren't just doing menial tasks during your research hours, as meaningful work looks and is a lot better. My friends that did the above during their research didn't make as many top 20 schools as did one of their peers, an actual published author.

Chances: idk, mainly because your scores are “projected”. If you want the best chances, go ED, especially with your ethnicity
