Planning to apply to JHU. Sending Scores soon and was wondering if I should send in my SAT 2 Physics Score. These are all my SAT Subject Test results.

Math Level 2: 800/800

Chemistry : 760/800

Physics : 720/800

Hence, you see that JHU only needs 1 Science and Math test to be sent minimum. So will sending in my physics score actually ruin my score or aid it? Esp. considering applicants most probably have better results.

Also, if anyone knows the score range of JHU students' SAT Subject Score Range, that would really help.

Have you taken the Physics AP test and gotten a 4/5 on it? If so, then I could see a decent argument for not sending the Physics SAT 2 since you’ve already demonstrated competence in the subject. Otherwise I would just send it. 720 is not a bad score.

Freshman Applicants
The SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT with Writing Test is required. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit up to three SAT subject tests.

Is it bad if I’m only taking two subject tests?
Hopkins suggests “up to three,” but I get the impression it’s strongly encouraged to take 3. I really just want to take 2 though. Will it hurt me if I send only 2?

I checked with admissions and they really do mean it when they say it is “recommended”. They stated that you will never be rejected simply because you had 2 and others submitted 3.

And to hopefully calm you down, do check last year’s decisions thread. You will see quite a handful of successful applicants who did not even submit any SAT 2 scores at all.

But to make a more informed decision, are you applying engineering? Because, for engineering it suggests that one science and math SAT subject score be sent.

Hope that helps.
And if you have any queries, just give the admissions a call! :)

I took Math Level II: 800, Chemistry: 720, and Physics: 610
I sent all of them thinking about the three highly recommended. Was this a bad decision?
I take IB Math HL II and IB Chemistry HL II, but I didn’t take an actual Physics Course (Self-Studied) . The admission officers wouldn’t consider would they?
Also, do they consider how many HL subjects you take? Is it more of an advantage if one takes 4 HL subjects rather than 3? (I take Math, Chemistry, Biology, and Economics HL)
