JHU Transfer Fall 2011

I got in like 3 weeks ago–they started sending out acceptances at the end of April

@aerobb when did you complete your application? did anybody receive rejection via email or snailmail yet?

I submitted my application on March 10th

aero can you post your stats?

Did anyone get rejected yet?

Tell me when you guys start to find out where you’re living so I can ask if I have a roommate yet!

so acceptance has been gone out, and rejection or waitlist goes out last?

Hi aerobb, did your letter contain info as to how many applicants were accepted out of how many?

rolling admission is really depressing when you haven’t heard a single thing yet.

just called. they said the decision is not out based on rolling. May 31st is the e-mail release date

still havent heard annnyyything

No, they did not say how many people would be accepted, only that around 1000 people applied this year. Acceptances really depend on how many open spaces they have–they have to wait and see how many people decide to leave the school.

Stats: I’ve been a solid A- student in high school and college. I don’t know my GPA exactly because both of my schools do it on a different scale… I got a 2160 on my SATS. I’ve done lots and lots of extracurriculars/volunteer work/internships. I’m transferring from a top-15 liberal arts school. At JHU i’m looking to get a 5 year MPP-- i’m interested in urban policy/development. I’m caucasian.

Whatever they say about admissions being not rolling is such a deception. I’ve already heard 3 people getting in!

Whatever the case is, good luck to everyone, and congrats aerobb for the acceptance : )

Thanks aerobb, I was curious about the email because if they release admits first, the email will probably contain some numerical data on the total acceptances. I sincerely hope that they’re still admitting :(

****…that means people who are not getting the answer by 31st is all rejected?

softpillows, i asked and they said it doesn’t work that way.

my question, from their forums:

Hi! My question’s a little… paranoid. But I was wondering if it’s possible the majority of acceptances have already gone out and that those people still waiting should expect rejections.

Basically, do rejections go out on a rolling basis? Or is it only acceptances, with rejections going out all at once toward the end of May?

Their response:

Transfer admissions decisions are released on a rolling basis, as Admissions_Daniel said, starting at the end of April. This means we have released some transfer decisions; however, all transfer decisions will be released by the end of May. Feel free to read this blog entry written by our own Admissions counselor Sarah about the transfer applicant review process for a bit more information. Basically, though, most people should not expect their transfer application decision until the end of May, and there’s no reason to assume one way or the other until the end of May rolls around. Try to hang in there while waiting and best of luck!

@museumgerm // Thank you so much

we just have to wait patiently. all our pining (and speculation) will not make the decision letters and emails arrive faster.

@museumgerm- an interesting post. And decisions in fact are acceptances and as well as rejections. so their response did not say anything really… except what they have been saying all the time: Wait until the end of May!

Does anyone know what courier they use? I came home to find an “unsuccessfully delivered package” notice on my front door from DHL…

UPS, i think.

also, any admissions package from JHU would be accompanied by an e-mail.

is rejection decision delivered via email too or not?

^ yup. from the ‘Hopkins Insider’ blog: “… all transfer decisions will be released by the final week in May. You will be notified of your decision first by e-mail, and then via postal mail.”
