Where did your son live freshman year? Did he find this residence conducive for studying? How was this for his social life? My D is going to BU in the fall. Thanks for your helpful posts.

Hi, my son lives in Warren, which is overall is quite frenzied. He was extremely lucky and got a corner double in the back, (away from the elevators) so it is in a quieter location than most, thankfully. He does do most of his studying in his room. As I posted elsewhere, Warren isn't the best match for his personality and in retrospect he might have been happier in a smaller dorm. I understand that most kids make great friends from their hallmates in Warren, but my son's closest friends were made from his classes and his clubs. I hope this is helpful!

If you don't want Warren or any other big dorm, then don't list any of them on your housing form. They might then stick you anywhere, including with upper classmen in one of the smaller buildings. Those tend to be farther away - like from Kenmore over to Danielsen, but they are much quieter. I've seen freshmen in doubles and triples with upper classmen and sometimes in very nice rooms. That, btw, is much more likely for girls because there are more of them.
