Im looking into JMU and I was wondering if some one could help me with a few questions i had:

How many on campus dorms are there? where are they located?

Also if I want to sign up for groups or organisations are there going to be tables on orientation week to find out about them and sigh up? Are there going to be tables any other time of the year?

There are not any pictures of the rooms but there are pictures of what all the buildings on campus look like, and there are youtube video tours of campus. If you would like more information, I believe you can go to the admissions page and find a button that says request more information. The best thing to do if you are able to is to attend an admissions session along with a campus tour. I am currently a sophomore at JMU and if you have further questions, do not hesitate to ask.

So, how many dorms options do I have? Are they all located relatively close from each other?

Also, in regards to organisations and grioups, when is the best time to see what they are about and sign in? Also, though the year do they have tables set up if i want to sign to them later on?
Thank you!

Also, forgot to ask, what is the dorm with most freshman?

I am not sure which dorms house more freshmen… Since more freshman live on campus than any other group, anywhere freshmen are placed is likely to have a good number of freshmen.

While students can apply for specific specialty housing and living learning communities, and I think you my request a specific area of campus, I am not sure exactly how much choice freshmen have for which dorm they end up in.

This link gives a better idea of the housing in relationship to the areas in which the dorms are located.

Bluestone is by far the superior section of housing.
East campus comes next.
Village is okay.
Lake side absolutely blows. Avoid it at all possible costs. (Coming from somebody who lives in the treehouses, which is easily the worst place to live on campus.)

All the halls are pretty different, your residence experience definately depends on which one you get. I got stuck in the treehouses and ended up getting out of my two year contract so I could live off in the fall. Best decision i’ve made.

How does housing in sororities work? If a student pledges a sorority, is she guaranteed on campus housing in the sorority? Is is possible to get on campus housing as a sophomore if you don’t sign the 2 year contract as a freshman?
