Does anyone know if Syracuse Dual Enrollment HS credits (SUPA), are accepted at JMU? My son will be attending JMU (So happy for him!) in the Fall, and our bill for his SUPA Public Policy class credits just arrived. If the credits are not accepted it would be silly to spend the money (we could use the money to buy a JMU sweatshirt or dorm items instead!). If we did not pay, he’d still get HS credit for the class, but no official college credits. Called JMU today but they are closed until the new year. Was wondering if anyone on the boards might know. Thanks!
That’s a great question. I don’t know the answer, but hopefully someone will. Maybe someone on the JMU parents FB page will know.
LP2024, I sent you a PM.
I agree that you should post this question on the JMU parents facebook page. That site is pretty active and there are lots of parents from NY.
I am a Syracuse alum, and now teach at JMU. Congratulations on your son’s acceptance to JMU!
JMU has launched a new transfer equivilency page, where it is possible to check what courses will transfer to JMU, and for what they will count. https://www.jmu.edu/registrar/students/transfer_credit.shtml
Courses will continue to be added, so just because it is not there does not mean credit will not be offered. It probably just means that no one has tried to trasfer it in the past, so it is not yet in the system.
Is the Syracuse class PAF 101 AN INTRODUCTION TO THE ANALYSIS OF PUBLIC POLICY? If so, it looks like it counts for PPA 200 INTRODUCTION TO PUBLIC POLICY.
If so, it looks like the class counts for the Public Policy Adminstration major and minor, or as a general elective. It may count for other majors or minors, as well.
Thank you very much for this helpful information! Looks like we will pay the bill for the SUPA credits. Our son is very excited to be a Duke and it will be nice to have a few credits going in.
