job hunting stinks

I've seriously applied everywhere and have not heard a single thing from anywhere. I'm 17 and this would be my first job. I'm looking into regular teen jobs by the way (clothing stores, fast food...etc.) I need advice on getting a job.

im 15 and am working at like a kiddie amusement park.. haha. but i got really lucky bc my sister worked there last summer so they gave me job

yeah same.. i applied to a lot of generic places, but never got any calls

whereas i see 14 year olds get hired there all the time :(

So hard...the only jobs that really want teens are the sweatshop-esque theme parks and pools. Lifeguard certification is KILLING me. In the meanwhile, I find that the best bet for teens is recently opened stores. I'm planning on applying to a Rite Aid that is opening near my house.

If only there was a Starbucks opening soon! Sigh...

All I want to do is work with books!

The Barnes and Noble near me is way too hard to get into, they don't need anybody, they get so many applicants regularly. I don't have a Borders near me, and the library near me requires all employees to be eighteen.

It just occurred to me that I'll be 18 soon. Hm.

^B&N is like that everywhere. Sigh I would loooooove to work there.

Imma go to Bath and Body Works tomorrow. :)

i got a job at my library and love it.

my friends work for a grocery store and B&N

When applying, pay attention to your appearnece. Short hair and conservative dress are always a plus for guys. For girls, conservative dress and not alot of dangly earings and gaudy jewelry. I know this sounds stupid and cliche but I know it works. I see people applying all the time for jobs where I work and the ones crackin gum with the big bangly earings and the guys with the baggy pants and the constantly ringing cell phones never get jobs. So just dress nic bruss your teeth and try not to act like a tennager lol. Hope this was helpful. Why not include a copy of your report card with your resume?
