Job or Unpaid Internship?

I have a job offer of a camp counsellor and an unpaid internship. I'm a junior and was just wondering which I should pick. I would enjoy doing both, but if I do the internship, I can also balance teaching swimming in my spare time. The pay factor doesn't matter for me and the internship is not just getting coffee.

is the internship related to what you want to do for a career? Will it potentially help you make contacts? If so, take the internship.

Definitely take the internship if it is related to your future career interests. Being a camp counselor is not really going to help your resume very much unless you want to be a teacher/have a career with something involving kids. Especially as a junior, recruiters are expecting to see at least one career-related internship on your resume, not just the standard service/camp counselor/restaurant job that high schoolers can typically get.

I completely agree with fa-la-la-lena. Even if it’s not completely career-related, it’s good to have experience in a professional environment.
