I really need some money for school (and other fun stuff) and my parents don't have enough money to get me even the school stuff. So I really need a job so if you could:

If you have a job say how old you are where you work and state (looking for ideas mainly)

I’m 17 and I live in AZ. I spent about 6 weeks looking on Craigslist and other job websites, and I applied to about 80 jobs, most of which were office jobs. I finally was hired by a small real-estate company. I do data processing and I edit/manage my boss’ blog. This is my first job.

I had a really creative cover letter, and my resume tried to highlight my “critical-thinking” skills (2360 SAT) and “communication skills” (national champion in Business Communication through FBLA)…And it all worked out in the end Just sell yourself!

Washington, I’m 18, but when I was 15 I got a job as a receptionist at a front desk at this place near my house. Also worked in a grocery store and restaurant. Most people I know end up being baggers or cashier managers at places like QFC, or they work in restaurants or someplace like Starbucks.

A lot of openings for high schoolers open up in the fall, because thats when people start going back to school and a lot of ‘summer job employees’ ‘drop out’.

Be open minded, don’t expect TOO much (jobs can get competitive!) but be yourself, sell yourself: responsible, team player, dependable, and someone that the employer wants to see every day (think optimistic person v grouch). Apply to a ton of places, you’re bound to hear back!
