John Hopkins Center For Talented Youth

Is it worth putting down that I got selected by the John Hopkins Center For Talented Youth in 7th grade?

yeah ive heard it is, but that sounds dumb. idk

No, it is not worth it. Colleges care about your h.s. activities and scores.

If you had a high SAT (for your age) back in middle school, you should have a high h.s. SAT, which is what colleges will care about. When it comes to the very top colleges, probably the great majority of their applicants would have qualified for TIP if they had taken the SAT or ACT in middle school.

CTY really isn't impressive .. Unless you have nothing else or it's a crucial part of your app that shows colleges who you are (doubt it).. don't bother.

I agree with Northstarmom about this.

dont put it. everyone was in it.

Unless you're getting money from them, or something other than having taken the SAT in middle school, it's not worth it.

I agree with posters above me--unless you went and did a summer program or course with them or something during high school. In that case, you should put it down. Otherwise, it just shows you did well on your SATs in 7th grade, which presumably means you'll do really well when you take them in 11th.

Well I took the SAT and didn't do too well, I got: 600 CR 630 Math and 550 Writing (ewwwwww). I'm going to take the ACT in June though and I'm guessing that my score will be around 29 or 30. Thanks for the feedback, I wont bother putting it on.
