John Paul Jones Arena & UVA students

Apologize in advance if this is posted somewhere on the labyrinthian UVA web site (note to self: Post rant later about outdated confusing web site )
This subject was definitely not covered at parent's orientation:
Do UVA students get any priority or price break on John Paul Jones Arena concerts? What exactly do they need to do if they wanted to wow their old hippie parents with Eric Clapton tix?
Or do I just log on and buy them like everybody else in the world.

you just buy them like everyone else. there is a student discount for the brad paisley concert but it is not a standard thing. and if you want to wow you parents with clapton tickets be prepared for spending a buttload on ebay cause they sold out yesterday in 5 minutes.

Charm2017 is the hippie parent who wants to be wowed with Eric Clapton tix.

Yes: Guilty as charged. I got a late start as a parent due to going to seminary to be a priest (did not work out - Improper concept of Authority was official reason) . LSD was legal when I was young. Tim Leary spoke at DUQUESNE UNVERISTY ( CATHOLIC -Fathers of the Holy Ghost) as part of our Existential Phenomology series. where I ended up graduating. Never bought into Clapton as God, but would not have minded seeing him at a discount.

Thanks for spelling out what's what.

Sometimes, while reading posts ,I laugh out loud. This was one of them. (I am Another parent who got a late start. And I could relate!)

At this point, the best ways to get tickets (other than on ebay and Craigslist), would be the Development office. But that might cost much more than Ebay tickets would. :)

The parents, especially those who went to shows looking for a miracle in the past, might want to come to Charlottesville anyway that weekend. Last year, Rolling Stones tickets were being given away outside the stadium because there were so many people with extras (keep in mind, though, that RS played a show only three hours away a night or two prior to our show). We have some fantastic shows at the other venues in town that weekend, so even if the Clapton tickets don't come your way, there'd be other things to do in town.
