Johns Hopkins and Cornell

I have an older sister who is a few years older than I am. She applied to Johns Hopkins and Cornell and got accepted into both. She decided to attend Johns Hopkins.

I am thinking about applying to both, and I was wondering, which do you think is a better university?

I know Cornell is in the Ivy League, but in national rankings I think they are pretty close. Cornell is also a much larger school.

Thanks,

Hopkins and Cornell are academic peers. Their ranks are virtually identical. Obviously, the strength of individual departments and programs will vary. Look at the graduate school rankings for departments you are in interested in since there are no reliable rankings for undergraduate majors. Reputation wise, they are pretty comparable as well.

Socially, the schools are quite different but, I think, comparable. Cornell is much, much larger (14,000 undergraduates v. 4,700) but is located in a much, much smaller town (metro population of 100,000 versus 2.8 million for Baltimore. You can have a good time at either.
