I agree I really hope they take people off! Since it’s basically been like 5 months (from March) that we’ve known about this decision and heard absolutely nothing since then. What colleges closed yesterday without taking anyone off?
On the mega thread you linked, Uci closed and based on the people on there said they didn’t take anyone. Other places as well include umich, Bryn mwr, Wellesley, who all closed this week or last week without taking anyone on.
honestly who knows every week we expect them to say something and they never do- also I’m not sure if you have this information so I might ask on the reddit thread but the colleges which closed were they as quiet as hopkins or did they communicate more with the students? and i understand the the thing with the visas but its weird that they would keep the waitlist open over something which will probably affect 1-2 students if its delaying the transfer waitlist and it requires them to keep updating files and at worst those students will just defer a year they won’t withdraw enrollment yk?
I stalked that thread and all the waitlist that closed were just like Hopkins not really answering questions not answering students, saying they have no news on it. And every time someone else asks questions about the waitlist on Reddit people who are already committed said the class might be full because of this example. So I’m not really sure why they still keep it open. The only schools that are taking people off is UCLA and Stanford that I know of.
ah i see so it’s been a pattern
Yeah they do follow the same pattern, except they deviate from the other schools in that they didn’t offer a clear end date (like June 30) and we STILL have no info well into July.
hey guys! hope you’re all having a wonderful summer! i commented a little earlier on this year on this thread waiting for a waitlist noti from jhu. even though that hasn’t happened yet, i still believe that jhu will take some people off. yes, other schools keeping their waitlist open for long and closing it without taking anyone off looks bad, but idk, i have a gut feeling that some will get off. regardless, we are all such strong individuals for taking on this challenge of being patient. even after so many problems in the world that we have as students and people, this problem is nothing more and cannot do anything to us. i know we want closure, but look past that and get excited about your school! find something that your current school is doing that jhu isn’t doing. for example, i committed to vassar, and i’ve been getting so much assistance as fast as virtually possible. even for admitted jhu students, administration looks to be slow for them as well. anyways, i’m just inspired by all of your resilience, hope, and confidence! keep that same mentality forever! and to the people on this feed that just want to down our hopes with cold realities, we obviously know what we’re in for. it’d be foolish to come into a situation like this and expect nothing less than what we want. in the end, we’re all bound for something great. i cant wait to see all of your names change the world.
@spursfan0617 Vassar is really lucky to have you! thank you for your kind comment, I know I appreciate it and I know that you too will change the world! The future is in good hands :)). As always best of luck with everything and thank you for your positivity!
thank you so much!! this was really really kind and i know you will love vassar and im excited to see you succeed! thanks again this was all really kind of you to say we really appreciate it
I don’t know about the others, but Wellesley hasn’t closed their waitlist yet. They sent out an email in May saying they would reevaluate the waitlist in June, and then another email in June saying they would reevaluate one last time in July. JHU is the only one I know of that hasn’t said anything.
Hey guys! I emailed my and admissions counselor and they said that “The waitlist does remain open but we do not anticipate taking too many students at this time.” Just wanted to let you guys know!
Thank you so much for the new information. Does this mean they’ll take people off, but it won’t be that many?
That’s what I got out of it, let’s see what happens.
Thanks for the update! Would you mind sharing what region your AO is from?
I think that the class is pretty much full so they’re just waiting to see if anyone changes their enrollment
I’m from New York!
Yeah after re-reading I feel that’s the case and based on what the admitted students are saying and how they worded it it seems like they are full but are waiting if people will end up deferring
So I emailed my AO and she replied this morning stating,
Hi
“No, unfortunately we do not have any updates to share about our waitlist. We are hoping to send some communications out in the next week or two.”
My guess is they are planning to close the waitlist either this week or next week.
Idk if it’s stupid to hope, but I still believe they will offer a place to a select few people. They did say “some communications,” which doesn’t read like a mass rejection email across the board…then again, maybe I’m reading too much into it.
yeah that’s how i interpreted it too! and the person before who emailed said that the admissions committee said that they weren’t looking to take many people off but that doesn’t seem like no one. i think the way they are wording it they don’t want to get peoples hopes up bc they are planning on taking people off just not many in my opinion probably 5 or 10 people. either way, i don’t see anything wrong with being hopeful and it’s sad that we’ve been convinced that it is. even if we don’t get in i know that everyone here will pick themselves up and thrive at the colleges they committed to. good luck guys i know we will all be happy regardless where we go and i hope someone here will get some good news
