Johns Hopkins Class of 2025 Waitlist Discussion

It’s seems to me everyone was accepted on the extended waitlist, which doesn’t really make sense. Or this is there way to reevaluate the waitlist again and make sure everyone is still willing, when the time comes to accept the offer off the waitlist.

yeah that’s what I was thinking maybe they just want a better of idea of who is actually interested and wants to stay on

So I get what they did with the extended waitlist thing but like they basically said we’re full until someone leaves right? Tbh I think 5 students if they’re lucky will get in.

They probably expecting melts to happen. Meaning they think before people will have to pay the tuition they will probably drop out. I don’t think they expect a lot but still think that will happen. After reading other college post, that’s one of the main reason why others are still keeping theirs open, since they didn’t over enroll.

What a ■■■■■■ school just ■■■■■■■ reject us already

When was the extended waitlist email sent? I actually did not receive one.

I got it on July 13th around 11am, I would search “summer waitlist at Hopkins” to see if you can find the email. I have a feeling it probably went to everyone.
edit: you can also check to see your portal if anything changed, for me it did not.

Hello,
Thank you for the response. My portal did not change, but I did not receive the email…even after searching up “summer waitlist at Hopkins.”

Hey there! I’m sorry about the email, I found a reddit thread where they posted the email (if you want to search by keywords): https://www.reddit.com/r/ApplyingToCollege/comments/ojv944/anyone_get_off_the_jhu_waitlist_i_just_got_put/

Maybe you can try to search it up by keyword or check to see if there may be another email that they sent it to? I’m speculating here but I’m not sure if they have “rejected” anyone from the waitlist yet. I hope you find the email!

The link on the form worked for me, and I received an email thanking for me for choosing to stay on the extended waitlist. My only concern is that I did not respond by 11:59, July 15th. However, I am also curious as to why anyone can access the form.

Lmao that is my reddit post.

It seems that someone got off the JHU transfer waitlist based off of this reddit post (they got in recently, which is way later than when usually transfer students get in, right?)

Hi! I’m a newly admitted transfer student to Johns Hopkins University for fall 2021 and currently attending USC with a full scholarship on a pre-law track. I found my last two years of experience at USC to be phenomenal and honestly could not ask for more. So, I am stuck between these two options of staying at USC or taking the chance to experience JHU for my junior and senior years of college. I am studying political science, and if any current JHU students can share their stories on the following, it’d be great:)

Nevermind, it looks like they commented this same post both 52 days ago and today, so they might still be deciding. Sorry for the confusion.

But like regardless if someone defers JHU and they start picking from the waitlist or not, there has to be a final time period right where they say they are or aren’t gonna take you. Does anyone know when that is or are we just sitting ducks?

We’re basically just sitting ducks. Because they haven’t given us a set date. I won’t be surprised if they did the whole extended waitlist to get people to stop emailing them for a while. Since the day they did the extended waitlist housing came out. It seems to me they never really looked over the waitlist since everyone both domestic and international got the extended waitlist. As the month starts the end more and more schools start to close without taking everyone off or basically only 2 or 3 people. Duke and Wellesley (or however you spell it) closed this week, I think some people said that UCLA might closed today or release something today. So who knows I really think it depends on how long we’re willing to wait out for.

Honestly, confused on what Jhu is doing at this point. As of today majority of colleges closed, while Jhu is still open, with no news.

They really need to just close already. What a ■■■■■■ school, it’s nearly august

honestly im really starting to like my second choice but it doesn’t help to have people tell you to just give up on hopkins and move on one day it just randomly clicked for me idk how and I was looking through old waitlist threads on cc a while ago like class of 2024 class of 2023 im too lazy to do it again but I remember one of the years they did this extended summer waitlist thing and a couple people ended up getting off like mid august literally a couple days before move in so who knows

Yeah, I personally think the reason why they’re keeping the waitlist open for so long compared to a lot of other colleges, since they take the most amount of international students and with the whole new version of Covid here they’re willing to wait so long, just in case it starts causing more chaos like last year they are trying to protect themselves by leaving it open for so long so if international students start to pull out the last minute they still have the extended waitlist to take people off so I think that’s mainly the whole reason because compared to other colleges they didn’t take that many international students this year compared to like domestic students so they were like Ok since we didn’t take that much we’re just gonna close unlike John Hopkins they took a lot of International students.
