Hey guys I know it has been radio silence for a couple of weeks now but I decided to reach out to jhu app help email and ask if there are any updates.
Here is what I got as a response:
Hi,
At this time there are no updates and we are still monitoring the incoming class to see what we are going to be able to offer for waitlist. As soon as something is determined the people on the waitlist will be contacted.
Thank you,
apphelp
It’s difficult to speculate without any actual information but feel free to leave your comments, thoughts, or even how you’ve been feeling!
Still sounds like they’re going to take some people off, but I’m not invested and I wouldn’t count on it. Thank you so much for reaching out to them and letting us know!
yeah if i had to guess i would say they’ll pull some people off like right at the end bc if not why keep it open so long and if the waitlist actually was selective than that increases the chance they will go to the waitlist but nothing to count on and most likely the number of people accepted off will be in the single digits
Do you think it would be okay if we sent another loci? I don’t want to come off as desperate, but if they are evaluating people this closely then would it help?
I think at this point I feel when it comes to loci what you put on has to be very high standard (if that makes sense). Like you receiving a important medal, or a research you did, scholarship won, etc. Something most people won’t have. If they are actually looking at the extended waitlist their only choosing based off how many get off. If very few get off it’s going to be very competitive meaning any new information that is sent would probably make or break your application. I think at this point it their not looking for simple updates like volunteering, unless you won an award from it or created the volunteering yourself. More leadership roles. I hope that helps, I don’t want to discourage you from sending something in, but I want advise what you send in should probably be something most people haven’t accomplished.
i feel like even though they don’t officially “rank” their waitlists they definitely have some sort of system already in place and they probably have 5-10 students on the waitlist they are thinking about if they go to the waitlist so I feel like it’s kind of set and minor changes here and there might not do anything but if you feel like you have something important to share and you think it might help then go for it!! good luck!
So this is sort of unrelated, but was anyone able to see the status of their financial aid materials (CSS, FAFSA, etc) on their portal? Did it ever tell you the cost of attendance or anything like that? It never showed me anything so just asking!
the weird thing is a lot of colleges are already starting I know colleges so if hopkins is actually planning on taking people off they need to do it soon because people are already leaving for college yk and once if I get off the waitlist while im already starting at another school im going to stay at that school
