Johns Hopkins Class of 2025 Waitlist Discussion

yesterday, it said 9 days to enroll. why is it counting forwards? am i just slow or confused? lol

It’s counting backwards to 11:59pm on May 1st - as in from now to when the enrollment deadline WAS. A post on the JHUadmissions Instagram confirms that the enrollment deadline was May 1st. According to Reddit threads, however, they did approve extensions on a case-by-case basis as someone said they know two people who got in and received extensions.

It is also worth noting that the original waitlist letter says that they will not know how many people they can admit until mid-May, so it really may be that they do not have any updates yet.

i understand now. but why would they word it or even note that info lol? it makes it seem like theres “10 days left TO enroll” even though its not like that

I think it’s a glitch: the calculator was set to calculate from the current moment till 11:59pm on May 1st and give the result as a positive number of days; hence, the current situation.

Ahhh, apologies for the confusion. I was quite surprised at first, but your explanation makes sense. Now we play the waiting game.

This is what I was thinking - it makes sense.

The waiting game is getting tough. Very much hoping for some good news for all of us!!

honestly, if one of us gets off, i’ll be good. if most or some of us get off, i’ll be great. i just wanna know that they at least considered the waitlist. like this is my dream school, and one of two schools that i was waitlisted at. i dropped the other waitlist, and i think they should’ve rejected me initially, but everything happens for a reason i believe.

Same, it’s my top choice and I really, really, really want to go there. If we even had some indication they’re considering the waitlist, it’d make this wait easier, but honestly, we have no idea what’s even going on right now.

me too! for some reason if any one of us gets off even If its not me ill be comforted because I’ll know they reviewed my application again with the updates and I got a second chance if I don’t get off it’ll just mean im not meant to go ill have an easier time accepting it but this uncertainty makes it so difficult but hopefully we’ll all get some good news soon!

yes it would make me feel so much better to know they were looking on the waitlist but I think that schools around the same caliber as hopkins like Vanderbilt have already taken people off so maybe that’s hopeful for us?

Yeah, Duke & Northwestern have seen quite a bit of waitlist movement from what I’ve seen on Reddit threads! Hopefully it’s similar for Hopkins!

hi everyone. i emailed my admissions counselor for JHU the following: “I was just wondering about JHU’s plans regarding the waitlist? And if they plan to utilize it this year? I remain very much committed to attending JHU if I am admitted off the waitlist, and was just wondering!
”

his reply “Thank you for reaching out and I apologize for the delay. The students on our waitlist are still under consideration and any update/changes to your admissions status will be communicated to you in due course. Best,
” I don’t think waitlisted students would still be considered if they overenrolled. just something to think about. we also have diff admissions counselors, so region could affect? im not sure, but there is still some hope.

yeah i think we can probably expect to hear something from them next week as they did say they would have more information around mid-may I think you’re right they wouldn’t be considering the waitlist if they were overenrolled! I know its really difficult but I think its important to be really careful about what we choose to believe on the internet not everyone may be genuine. good luck guys!

does anyone have an estimate of how many students hopkins waitlisted this year?

3400, it says on their website. but considering theres less activity than most on this feed, 3400 isnt the number of students that actually accepted a waitlist spot

Yeah this might not be correct at all but if their yield is around 40% for admitted students then maybe that could be a reference for how many people accepted their spot on the waitlist probably around 1400? this is me literally just guessing so don’t take my word for it
