Johns Hopkins Class of 2025 Waitlist Discussion

those are all amazing colleges! i committed to villanova and i think i would be happy in either place they’re both cool but hopkins is also closer to where I live which is kind of why I want to go too

I am also currently committed to UNC! JHU is higher rank but I love the location of Chapel hill better.

Does anyone have ANY info at all about what the situation is? Did anyone call/email today? I’m getting concerned that it’s May 10th and still nothing…

I saw on a waitlist thread on reddit that JHU extended their deadline of commitment! It may have been past May 3rd. I’m assuming May 7th? I don’t know how reliable that is, but don’t lose hope! Love your current school, trust that you’ll be successful regardless! We got this!

Okay so this is the admitted students page and on the top right hand corner it says 9 days to enroll.
Here: https://admit.jhu.edu/

I heard that Johns Hopkins over enrolled, and no one will be taken off of the waitlist

where did you hear that from?

wait waht

contact your regional rep, mine told me that they are completely filled and in fact have enrolled more people than they intended to, and no one should expect to get off of the waitlist. It is what it is, the chance of getting off any waitlist is so low to begin with

I asked my AO, and here is what they told me: “Thank you for reaching out and your continued interest in Hopkins. At this time, we do not have any updates regarding our wait list plans. Students on the wait list can monitor emails and their application portals for updated information.”

Ill email mine as well and tell you what they say

Its odd that you both got two different replies- we’ll see what mine says I don’t think that they are overenrolled or they wouldn’t have extended their commitment day?

this is what my rep said: We do not have an update on waitlist activity at this time.

Ok so in conclusion, none of us know anything. They could be overenrolled but they also extended their commitment date which argues that they’re not overenrolled. Idek at this point

right. taking last year as an example, jhu admitted 2604 in total (from ed and rd). they didnt have ed2 last year, so it was 682 ed and 1922 rd. they eventually enrolled 1300 people. they went to the waitlist A LOT last year, however. so if you take the 682 official spots from ed out of the 1300, that means 618 people actually accepted their spot at jhu from rd. 618/1922 is a 32% yield ■■■■■

32% is actually really low for jhu lol, but it was covid year. but take that for consideration. idk, i felt like a nerd calculating all that. its just to make me have hope. but they took about 1600 for rd this year in addition to the about 800 confirmed for ed1 and ed2. and if they expect yield to be the same, then it matches to last year → 500/1600 = 32%. i estimated numbers, and i feel more like a nerd so ima stop. truth is, we do know nothing

I don’t think your math is too off honestly I think the delay might be because they are having some sort of issue for example a low yield- if they were overenrolled then there wouldn’t really be this awkward stage we’re in right now but really everything on these forums is speculation so we just have to wait and see good luck everyone i hope we all get off!!

The admitted students page if counting backwards to May 1st at this point. If extensions were given out, and I personally feel they were, it hasn’t been posted on any official website and thus, may be on a case-by-case basis. With all these AOs saying that they do not have any waitlist updates at this time, it may be that they truly do not have their final numbers regarding class size and composition and we may just have to wait it out.

Interesting. Just checked today and it now says 10 days to enroll. I’m assuming that they may have extended the registration/enrollment deadline because they need more students to enroll, not because they have too many students.
