Johns Hopkins Early Decision for Fall 2022 Admission

Yes it has disappeared for my son.

Thanks, good to know weā€™re not the only ones. Does anyone know what it means, or does it mean anything?

my checklist disappeared, too.

It seems to have disappeared for all applicants in ED-2ā€¦Good luck to all !

Hi all, just wondering what would be considered achievements that can get admissions to JHU in IR program?

Just curious for all the BME hopefulsā€¦In case of admittance to second choice major how much time does someone have to decide on committing ?

They said that if applied and BME and they offer something else, itā€™s not binding. I would think that it would have the same deadline for deciding. End April?

From what I read, you get a week. Its the same date as what they give for committing to the ED. You either take the acceptance to the university with any non BME major or you withdraw. I donā€™t think you can go into the RD pool.

That may be the case, but doesnā€™t seem reasonable - they got to give enough time to visit and then decide.

I was expecting a shorter timeline though hoping to get at least a few weeks to ponder, but sure would be good to have that problemā€¦Thank for the responses and good luck to our amazing kids !

I am interested in the biomedical engineering (BME) major. What do I need to know?

If you want to enroll in the biomedical engineering (BME) major, you must indicate BME as your first-choice major on your application. Students are admitted specifically into the BME major based on evaluation of credentials and space available. Students can be admitted to the university without acceptance to the BME major. No separate application is required.

If you are accepted into the BME major, you will be notified at the time of decision release.

Students who apply Early Decision and are admitted to the program will follow the same Early Decision Agreement policy. Students who apply Early Decision but are not accepted as a BME major can still be admitted to Hopkins as an undergraduate. In this circumstance only, they may have until the Early Decision I or II enrollment deadline to decide if they want to matriculate to Johns Hopkins University. Those who choose to turn down their spot will forgo admission to Johns Hopkins for that application year.

Early Decision I or II enrollment deadline ā€“ These are maybe 1 week or 10 days I think.

I have been admitted. When is my enrollment deposit due?

Instructions for how to submit your Reply Form and deposit are found on the admissions decision site, where you received your admissions decision.

  • For Early Decision I, both forms must be submitted by January 15.
  • For Early Decision II, both forms must be submitted by February 26.
  • For Regular Decision, both forms must be submitted by May 1.
  • For Transfers, both forms must be submitted by June 1.

Looks like enrollment date for ED2 is Feb 26, just about 2 weeks after decisionsā€¦

Thank you, this clarifies thingsā€¦Will keep some calendar times open at work for a quick potential visit if we get so lucky !

Itā€™s not just the visitā€¦ it means you cannot wait for other admissions before deciding about the other majorā€¦ What happens if they donā€™t give admission in BME, instead give in Biology, and then some other offer comes by? Since ED2 is not binding if not admitted to BME, itā€™s possible that some other offer comes by that the student may want to take up. In such a case, is it a matter of forfeiting the deposit, or is the student not even allowed to do that? Too many complex issuesā€¦

I would never allow my daughter to ED without HER being 100% sure it was a perfect fit. Now the finances are a completely different matter . Not sure and need to visit/ect. RD.

It might take a long time with real-world experience for her to confirm. Even if your daughter is 100% sure now, she can change, kids switch majors in college all the time. So donā€™t worry too much about it, JHU is good enough for pretty much anybody.

FYI ā€“ My child is at JHU. If your student doesnā€™t get into BME, have him or her take a good look at Chem and Biomedical Eng. It is a fantastic program and has considerable overlap with BME in upper level classes and research opportunities.

That is exactly how daughter has been thinking. BME or precision medicine focus in Chem Eā€¦Holding my fingers crossed as I understand too many hardworking and qualified kids are applying, so unfortunately the process anything but deterministic at this point but weā€™ll find out soon. Good luck to everybody !

Thank you! Which program is this, is it in engineering, or sciences? In the multiple campus visits, they didnā€™t mention anything related.

Good luck everyone for tomorrow!
