How is JHU regarded as far as the undergraduate degree in economics is concerned?
Also, how is their Business school for MBA?

I’m an econ major applying for graduate school in economics. What are you trying to get out of the undergrad degree? If you’re just looking at it as a bridge to business school, then I’m not sure how much it will help you; if you’re hoping for more of a finance angle, there is a minor in financial economics (you take courses in the econ department), a minor in entrepreneurship and management, and program in financial math (in the applied math department). If you’re looking to use the degree as a stepping stone to more economics work, then you’ll be happy with it. It’s not “top 15” but they have some very well-respected faculty here and I’ve liked most of the professors I’ve had.

The MBA is not a “traditional” MBA, but combines business training with other things that make Hopkins well-known: research, innovation, global service…

I would like to be marketable straight out of undergrad school. Not sure, but I may liek to orien towards the finance. I would likely get the MBA after working a bit.
Does this sound like a good fit at JHU, or would I be better off at Carnegie Mellon or Vassar, where I am getting brecruited for sports, and should be able to get in no problem?
Thanks.
