Johns Hopkins University Early Decision Forum 2015

Hey guys! ED applicant from CA here. Although I also did get a call from JHU regarding financial aid last Thursday, I don’t think it means much other than making us all paranoid af. I just want Friday to come already lol.

(girl here)
Also Ed applicant from CA @swagswag1234 =D
I did look into it and saw the correlation and as much as my brain would love to grasp on to the hope that it means something (like they wouldnt waste their time making FA estimates for people they wouldnt even consider accepting) I know that it probably means nothing @kp1997 @XAtlas
I dont really know how to post threads but it was the Early decision forum from last year title something like Johns Hopkins Early Decision Forum (no year) and I was just snooping through there and since I had had the same thought that maybe them asking for financial aid paperwork (they called and emailed me) was a good thing I decided to run my own statistical experiment and see how many of the people who were getting notifications of missing items were getting in and how many who were worrying about having not gotten those emails were not getting in and there seemed to be a clear correlation (I also went though the ED class of 2019 forum) Its primary purpose was finding a way to comfort myself. @EvenfallsWolf

CA ED applicant here to! SoCal lyfe haha

So is email notification good or bad?

Good but not something to celebrate over

gotcha. well only friday 3:00 pm can confirm it :confused:

Northern CA. SF bay area

Hey Team - I have an idea to break up the stress. How about if we share what our 2nd or 3rd college options are if we don’t get into JHU (maybe it will take our minds off of JHU for a second? I will go first: My 2nd top option is UPENN (Reach) and 3rd option is UCLA (More Match).

Also, does anyone want to exchange their ‘Why Hopkins?’ essay via PM? I think it would be great to read a couple of others.

Ayeee @p3y7on I’m from NorCal toooo
Also assuming this financial aid call/email does mean something positive for us and they send it out to admitted applicants, do you guys think they would email/call deferred applicants as well? (I just have this strong feeling I’m gonna get deferred lol).

I dont know exactly what my choices would be but I applied to UC Berkeley (kind of reachish and REALLY local to me) UCLA (but I am sort of a hater of SoCal), UC Santa Cruz (kind of safetyish), UC Davis (its okay, not my favorite but I would be happy) and University of Nevada Reno (super safety but I really loved it). I am really hoping for JHU i went to the flyin program and I fell completely and utterly in love with the school

@p3y7on We’re all trying to comfort ourselves here :slight_smile: I probably should stop analyzing everything and focus on my other applications.

@northstarfx Applied EA to MIT and UChicago. Am I nervous now!

@swagswag1234 Nah, I don’t think so. Too much people.

I would exchange essays. Would love to read somebody elses take. @northstarfx

Ventura (Basically LA)
2nd: Brown, 3rd WashU
Sure fore essay exchange. Can we upload a doc or just copy and paste it?

Local Maryland applicant here haha (any other MDs?)
I applied EA to umich, UNC, UMBC, and college park. Second choice is prob UNC or college park…
I really want to do a chance me but then like… ehhh…

@EvenfallsWolf See being from CA all my applications were due and done so I have nothing really college related to focus on so all I am doing is stalking my dream school (which is becoming a problem)

@MarriYu same here on the chance me but from what I’ve read its really useless/pointless T_T

@HuangoBango yea ikr :frowning:

3 days guys. We’re so close

@MarriYu Yet so far away

@p3y7on aww be more optimistic :slight_smile:

@northstarfx That’s a good idea. I feel myself getting too invested and worked up about getting into Johns Hopkins. Although I would really like to get in, I know that I need to start looking into other schools and coming to terms with imminent rejection. My 2nd choice is Brown (Reach) and 3rd is Emory university (high match).
