@nevergiveup, the Common Data Set that I was referring to was dated 2013-2014. It was last updated on 10-9-14. They have probably updated the 2014-2015 version, but I cannot find it online anywhere. So, at least as of one year ago JHU was not reporting SAT scores as sharing the most important ranking. Maybe this year it’s different?
I’m from New England!
SoCal (as far as it gets from NE haha)
West coast here (Washington state)
Maryland here!

I wonder how many people applied ED for JHU this year
539 out of 1865 applicants last year. So I’m guessing around 2000 applicants.
^ So would the number they accept remain the same or increase?
there’s no set number but they’ll probably accept about 30%
@nevergiveupp I would assume it would go up because number of applicants have been growing each year overall.
It’s kind of late but I’m in! Btw, I’m international student. Is anyone else applying for a major in social science?
international studies
Ugh I can’t wait anymore!
hey! I applied for intl studies as my second-choice major!
I believe the chances would go down since there are a set amount of seats (numerator) but a constantly growing pool of applicants (denominator); therefore, the total chance should go down every year
sorry for being a party pooper
there aren’t a set amount of seats HuangoBango. depends on the pool of applicants
^True, but I highly doubt they’ll add a comparable amount of ED seats for any increase in applicants. Rates will continue to go down as they follow decades-long trends (as for most top-50 schools)
That’s also true. Last year the ED acceptance rate was about 30% and it probably won’t change significantly year to year
@joey374 Nixon isn’t saying that the ED acceptance won’t change but rather that the amount of seats for ED will not change much, which entails that around the around the same number of people will go to Hopkins through Early Decision this year as opposed to last year. It is unclear whether the number of ED applicants will change significantly, but the amount of applicants in all realms related to JHU have gone up in recent years (JHU is also in the top10 Unis now which could attract more applicants). Of course more applicants does not directly correlate to more acceptances. It is more favorable for JHU to also see the RD applicants to see other highly competitive applicants and not put all of their money into the ED pool.
