Johns Hopkins University Early Decision Forum 2015

I know I’m not trying to start an argument. This should be a forum for us to just talk about hopkins and stuff while trying to relax

How’s everyone feeling?

Not great haha. Tbh I feel as if I don’t have any motivation now because ED’s are over (though uc’s and other programs are due end of november :frowning: )

I mean there’s still around 3 weeks, but I’m already having nightmares about being rejected :frowning:
The only way to keep me from thinking too much is preparing for RD…

I think it’s best to not get our hopes up, since even the most qualified applicants regularly get denied from JHU and other elite schools! I can speak from my brother’s experience; we all thought he had a great shot at Stanford (ED) and some Ivies (RD). He got denied at all of them #-o

Ughh the wait is killing me! Just wondering, but for those of you who applied ED to BME, if you rejected from the program, but get into the university will you still commit to JHU for second-choice major?

I’m applying ED to BME and if i get rejected from BME, I’m still going to the university

What was your second choice @Krishna98 mines was ChemE

Dooes anyone know if JHU has a strong biomolecular/chemical engineering program? The US News rankings dont even show it. Does that mean its not good?

I am applying early to BME and will still go if I don’t get into the university. My second choice major is biomolecular/chemical engineering.

ChemBE program is a well-respected and popular engineering major at JHU though (at least while I was there) they were notorious for having one of the lowest average GPAs of any program on campus. Definitely a strong basic engineering focus for the first two years and then you’re allowed to branch out more into biochemical applications. Lots of opportunities for research, which is always essential for an undergrad experience. Word to the wise, I saw a weird trend of premed students in this program (along with BME) which I wouldn’t recommend given the extreme rigor and lower GPAs (lower from a JHU perspective, which is already deflated).

my second option is Public Health Studies

December 11 is approaching so slowly

Anybody know how many people were deferred last year?

I don’t believe that data is published. I wouldn’t expect it to be that high of a number since the admissions committee is over-worked as is, and the last thing they want is to have to assess applicants again. I’m sure they have a strong sense of what they’re looking for, and the pool of ED applicants is large enough to get a general idea of what the RD pool will look like. All this is (reasonable) speculation though.

@NixonDenier did you apply Ed or regular?

Has anyone gotten an interview yet??
btw im a student from Canada but I have a US citizenship
my first intended major was Medicine, Science, and Humanities. Anyone else?

registered for one around Nov1 but haven’t heard back

Same, registered for one but still haven’t heard back…

hi I am also from Canada

@MKirsten, my second intended major was Medicine, Science, and Humanities. It looks like a great new major option. The first major I listed was Spanish, but I plan to take the pre-med track as well.
