johnson chem6b

what can i expect from this class?
i kno she is a great teacher but ridiculously hard class...

I took her for 6a. Tough class, but a really generous curve. Great teacher, shouldnt be too hard to pull off a B with the curve if you stay on top of things.

I took her for 6b spring quarter last year. she is helpful in that she will do several example problems with you and assign daily homework, in contrast with someone like Professor Hoeger for example. just be wary that her tests can be pretty difficult and the pace in class is very fast, I had to finish many of the note sets at home in addition to the homework…
but as was mentioned, the curve ends up being pretty good…
the quizzes usually resemble the homework a lot, so try to cover as much as possible before them.

^shoot… i’m taking hoeger for chem6A and that’s gonna decided whether i like the field or not now because i hated chemistry in high school. Hoeger’s reviews were pretty good… so i just took him. i know that chem itself is a hard subject… how is hoeger? sorry to barge into this thread.

yeah, that’s what i’d say.

whether you like a subject really depends on (1) if you find it interesting and (2) if you’re good at it. pinning all these responsibilities onto your choice of professor is the wrong way to think about it.

Johnson for 6B had a very generous curve. Her midterms consisted of a lot of short answers so it is pretty easy to at least get some partial credit if you show your calculations. She gives out extra credit through iClicker points if I remember correctly and adds them to your lowest quiz score.

Stay a decent amount above the curve and you’ll get an A- or maybe an A depending on how far above you are. I just finished her 6A class. Worked my ass off (averaged 10 hours a week) for that A. Shes a great lecturer though :)
