Journalism At Brown?

Hey, I was looking through my Brown application at the areas of academic interests for a Bachelor of Arts degree. However, I did not see Journalism listed. Does Brown offer Journalism? And if not, what academic interest should I select that will fill that quota?

Brown does not have a journalism concentration. It also doesn't have a "quota." If you want to major in journalism then you shouldn't go to Brown. You can concentrate in something else (political science, English, history, etc.) and work on the BDH or WBRU, do internships at the ProJo, etc.

Brown doesn't have a journalism concentration, but it does have journalism classes and plenty of opportunities to get experience. If you look at the requirements for a lot of journalism schools, you'll notice a lot of the requirements are just distributives, so you'll actually know something about the stuff you're reporting on. I wouldn't count out Brown just because it doesn't offer a journalism major exactly, but if it is what you're especially interested, you might want to look at other schools.

Thanks. I was a bit discouraged about this "shocking revelation." :P Yah, but I'll apply to Syracuse University as well. My sis goes there (majors in biochem), and advocates the New House School of Journalism.

Have you looked into the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern at all?
