I am currently a high school junior and want to major in journalism going to a school in either Oregon, Washington, or Colorado. Are there any good journalism schools in this area? Also, what would be a good minor to pursue with journalism? Thanks!

Well, right off the top of my head, I know that both University of Oregon and University of Washington have excellent journalism departments.

Pretty much any minor can complement a journalism major.

I’ll be sure to look into both of those. Thanks:)

Investigate the strategic plans of each of the journalism programs you find. What skills are they going to be teaching, considering that the field is changing so fast? Minors could be in content areas (like politics/polysci or sports), in media (like online communication or TV), or in management or marketing.

Go a little farther south and you’ll hit a home run with USC or Arizona State. Great and prestigious programs in journalism. You could also try Nevada-Reno. It has a good program too.
