Hello all. I'm currently a junior in high school and I want to study journalism and film, so, ideally, I'd like to find a school that offers both of these things. Both are extremely important to me. I don't have my SAT scores yet, but I have a 4.0 GPA and have taken multiple AP courses, and I've also taken journalism classes and write for the school newspaper.
I live in Pennsylvania, so I think I'd be more comfortable on the East Coast, but I'm not opposed to somewhere farther away if it's a good school. Some of the schools I've thought about are UNC Chapel Hill, Northwestern, BU, Brandeis, Northeastern, Penn State... but really I have no idea.

Do a search. There have been dozens if not hundreds of threads on journalism over the years. It’s one of the most popular majors here. CC poster Carolyn gave particularly good advice to aspiring journalists.

Stay open to the idea of attending a college that may not offer a journalism program; many very talented journalists are not graduates of journalism programs. You have many excellent options in your home state, which is virtually swarming with good colleges. Two of the most accomplished writers I know in LA graduated from small LACs in Pennsylvania (Susquehanna and Franklin & Marshall).

Another thing you should investigate now is how much your family can afford. It does little good to get admitted to that perfect school if you can’t afford it.
