Jrotc

I am just curious.

How much of an impact would involvement in JROTC have on the admissions process?

First of all, there is a nomination pool for those in JROTC if I recall correctly. Secondly, there is a basic understanding of military skills and knowledge that is assumed as well as a committment to the lifestyle.

In addition, involvement in JROTC is assessed under the leadership potential portion of the whole candidate score.

I think JROTC looks very nice. My JROTC Regimental Company received an LOA, but couldn't get an appointment because he sadly couldn't hear high frequencies during the Dodmerb auditory exam. Poor guy. He got a 4 year scholarship at Vtech though. Very nice!

How would it appear if someone held many leadership positions within JROTC and participated in JROTC fitness teams?
Such leadership would include Rifle Team Commander, Assistant Drill Team Commander, Drill Team Commander, and Staff positions.

How highly would they look upon someone who is now serving as the Battalion Commander, who is in charge of the school’s JROTC program?

Would this, as well as an excellent CFA score, compensate for not being involved in athletic teams?

quiet_hawkeye: That is a question you need to ask your admissions officer. If I recall correctly, there was one accepted candidate who posted a while back who did not play any sport but was on an orienteering team - so yes, exceptions to the norm can be made, but it depends on the strength of your file.
Good luck!

can anyone tell me how to get into jrotc? my school doesnt offer it, and i don’t know if it’s too late because I’m going to be a junior in high school soon
