Any comment on JSA Summer School's Freshman Scholars program? I have been asking this question in the Summer Program Section, but apparently not many people know about it.

Nobody ever heard about this? Please help!

Hi HK. I don’t know a thing about JSA. But if you add more reasons about your interests you may get some feedback.

Good luck!

In general, I’d be leery of any summer programs that require you to pay a large sum of money. (Not sure if this program does though) By and large, these sorts of academic programs are simply cash cows. I’m sure your kid can have a great time at them. But it’s not worth any sort of financial strain. Personally, I did some affiliated with a local university (although it attracted kids nationwide), and while most people there seemed to love it, I found it shallow and not very intellectually challenging.

I went to JSA Summer School at Georgetown for two years in a row, and I can honestly say that it changed my life. It was amazing, I learned a lot, and I ended up getting a 5 on the AP Government exam after taking the class there. You get the college atmosphere, and one of my friends even got a mention on his acceptance letter to Georgetown that said that the college was specifically impressed with his A in Summer School there. I would imagine it is the same for Princeton. Go to JSA summer school, it is amazing and I will personally vouch for it. It is not like the other mailings I get that ask for a huge amount of money for the week, it is actually a legit 3/4-week college course.
