take the PSAT, and as many practice SAT exams as you can. I wouldn't bother paying the several hundred dollars for a class, but you should take a look at the collegeboard's blue SAT prep book, its supposed to be the best.

thanks , is the sats the biggest component in the descion ?

no, but considering its a 4 hour test, it is worth a lot.

thanks after reading many posts i kno wur are a cadet but what year are you ?

high school senior, application complete, waiting game.

also, over the next couple of years, try to gain leadership positions in the extracurriculars you are in.

ye well i am wating for teh jrotc to start, in teh process yourht leadership program in my church and am involved in habiatat for humanity

president, president, club officer, board member, all things you want... "involved in," "participant," and "member" really dont matter much.

thanks what did u get on ur sats

740 math, 640 reading, 670 writing

wow, waht activities were u involed in or still are in high school ?

I remember a bunch of us wrote what stats we had to get LOA's/Appointments a while back you might wanna check that out.

I don't mean to be a real a****le here, ranger-hooah, but please spell check some of your post. I can live with it, but I have a feeling people will take you a lot more seriously if they can read your thoughts more clearly. I stared at your title for a while trying to figure out what JSUT stood for.

PS- I just looked in the mirror and realized how much I resemble my English teacher! AHHHHHHH!

I'm Vice President of a community service club, president/founder of a computer club, member of California Scholarship Federation (same as National Honor Society, join whichever you can, being just a member is fine), member of the math club (no such thing as leadership positions in this, but i have the highest math contest total for AP Calc AB students at my school, so i put that) and I tutor ~3rd graders on tues/thurs. I played soccer for a year, badminton for a year, and will have been doing muay thai (kickboxing) for a year.

I went back and spell-checked this post just for you, envee.

ranger-hooah have you thought about going to the prep school first?

i will do anything that will get me into west point, the prep school or a civial college. sorry about the spelling

Maybe I should change my name to SpellingNazi_06. :D

My son always dreamed of attending the USMA and last week his dreams came true - he received an appointment. I think being a member of the Civial Air Patrol really helped. He was promoted to officer, received the Mitchell Award and holds the position of Cadet Cammmander for his squadron. He didn't start until his freshman year in HS, so it's not too late. I see you're from northern NJ and there are several squadrons you could join (one at Picatinny, one at Teterboro and there may be others).

Every little thing helps! Good luck.

yes there is a cival air patrol squadron by me , but my school is also in the process of forming a jrotc program which hopefully will pull through , we are still waiting for a phone call back from Fort Dixs. it is goging to be hard becasue my school has about 650 people and inorder to have a jrotc program 10% of the school population has to join , another problem is that we are a private school.

I'm not exactly sure why the prep school was brought into this... but if you get an offer there, dont be sad.
