Hi,
As the test is coming up soon, I thought I'd make a thread for discussion so that people can ask questions and discuss the upcoming latin sat . How are you all preparing and has anyone seen any interesting/difficult/hard questions or passages that they wanted to discuss?

My D’14 is taking the test on June 1. Are you a student or a tutor? She has been doing SAT prep and took the May 4th test. The same tutor is helping her to prepare for the Latin Subject test. Do you have any insights?

I’m a student. I don’t have any insights or anything to say other than keep studying. I’ve never taken this test before. What did she think about the may 4th test?

How would you suggest cramming? I havent gotten adequate time to prepare after APs, and Im really nervous for the Latin SAT IIs.

I was told that getting a 600 on the Latin SAT II was a great achievement way back when. Does anyone know if that is still the case? Or is it easier to get a 700/800 now?

Hi there,
I took the Latin SAT Subject test for the first time this June and I studied from the REA Latin Subject Test Prep Book.

My school doesn’t take Latin too seriously so I had to learn a lot of it myself (I just finished level III). However, unlike other subject tests (Math, Spanish, etc), you could get a lot more points wrong on Latin and still end up with a good score, unlike something like Biology, where if you get three wrong you automatically drop to a 780 or 790.

The test itself was pretty easy if you’re good at Latin or if you have a good grasp on Vocab and Grammar. The only part that really mucked me up was matching the Latin word to the English word, which I hadn’t studied thoroughly.

I ended up with an 800 and it was no sweat. I think that if you study hard and you’re confident, you shouldn’t worry too much; make sure you review each section of the test while studying to see what you’re going to go up against and KNOW YOUR VOCAB.
