June 14 2014 ACT Discussion

I am extremely confident in English, math, and reading- 32+ in each. However, I am very worried about my science score. I completely lost track of time, and ended up guessing on the last passage due to one minute left. Although not a massive amount of questions, it still could mess up my score. Would anyone who remembers the last science passage share their thoughts/what they got for their answers please? thank you

What did you get for the question in the science section, it was the one with the different hypothesis and number 12 I believe. The question was something like “what did all of the scientists agree on?” And the answer choices were like all of the butterflies use lipids while migrating or all the butterflies don’t use lipids during overwinter
I just guessed D

@warrenfb2 I think so. Thats what I put. None of the other choices looked right

Hmm I thought English section was quite difficult- i scored a 35 on the state test for English, but i was very confused on the main ideas of the passages today. Anyone else have trouble here? I assume the science will have extremely harsh curve since the questions were pretty straight forward, but we will see. Overall, hardest act I have taken for sure! By the way, anyone know the answer to the parabola question #31- it asked the roots or solutions of the equation i think. The parabola was in first quadrant and upside down.

  1. two distinct positive real
  2. two negative
    3 1 positive 1 negative
  3. two same real #s
  4. no real solutions
    Something like that- anyone know?

Did the scores come out the next Monday for the April test? I remembered that’s what it said on the act site but I can’t remember when I got my scores.

@Jibmonster I put 1 positive and one negative. If you plug 0 in for Y the answers are wherever the lines cross the X axis, which it did in quadrant I and II, so it would be positive and negative.

It was 1 positive and 1 negative I believe @Jibmonster‌

Is it just me or was this harder than the IL state mandated one?

What did you guys gett for the english question where it was like
She herself,
I put NO CHANGE but I think it’s wrong
Ahhhh I just want this to be over

FROM ACT WEBSITE

When Will Scores Be Ready From This Test Date?

Test Date: June 2014
ACT will notify you by email when your score report is ready.
After you test, you can check to see if your scores are available online. Multiple-choice scores from this test date will be first posted online beginning June 23 through August 8, 2014.

If your scores are not available on the first date listed above, plan to check back weekly up through the last date listed. Scores are processed and added each week, usually each Wednesday and Friday. Normally, all scores are reported by 8 weeks after the test date. (See examples of why some scores take longer.) There is no option for speeding the processing of scores.

If you take the ACT Plus Writing, your Writing scores will be posted as soon as they are ready, normally about 2 weeks after your multiple-choice scores. Your scores cannot be reported until after your Writing scores have been added.

Score reports are usually reported within 3 to 8 weeks after the test date

@cani-ok thanks so much that’s what I put, thanks!
@y12s34 yes no change I think was correct- it seems like a nonessential clause but both commas were unnecessary( not 100% sure that was no change but I think it was)

Can someone help me out if they remember any of the last science passage

Wasn’t there a glitch that let you see your scores earlier?

glitch doesn’t work but check their website, next monday we get scores

@Ambitious5- which section was the last? I did them in different order, but was it the ph one? If you could refresh m memory on that, I think I could help!

In regard to the “she herself” question, I put no change as well but really have no idea. “She, herself” just sounds weird and all other options didn’t really make sense. Any other opinions?

@An1100345‌ @fnl012‌ what’s the glitch?

@AiYaaaa it’s this website.

earlyactscore.com;

You used to be able to put your link in once it says “tested” and you’d get your score but I don’t believe it works anymore.

By Monday? Did they make it faster? I hope so, because I’m going to be out of the country next Friday for three weeks and won’t be able to check my scores.
Also, it’s definitely “She herself” (Are we technically supposed to be discussing this though?)
