June 14 2014 ACT Discussion

Did you divide 300 by 5? I think I got that as well

i got 30 :’( i thought i was 7foot tree space plus a yard of space at each side, so 300/9 ~ 30. ■■■

y was the reading so different then usual… I mean it’s really not fair to everyone because everyone prepared for it the normal way and they switch it for the real one!!! I mean come on

I had trouble for this particular reading section. So from Salman Rushdie’s passage, would the “sweep” be considered an overwhelming victory or broad area. I has broad area but then I thought about it and chose the victory one but now looking back I realize that my first choice was probably correct haha then for bradbury’s I could not understand what “taking arms against the word, or for it” was. I think I said that he felt as though he was struggling which could make sense depending how you think about it idk

I thought that was pretty crappy of them too, I finished the last reading question literally right as my proctor called time. It slowed me down a lot. Hopefully the curve will compensate for it.

was the salman passage the first passage?

btw, i had a reading where it was an interview format in one of my practice tests before.

“drew up” in the Bombay reading passage? What does it mean? Was it organized or was it extended?

came in with the intent of scoring a 32+, left thinking i’d be lucky if i scored a 27 :’( that english dual section was terrible :’(

Drew up = prepared.

@sarahdd yeap divided it by 5

Can someone tell me what the new fifth test had one it please?:)

How is it prepared? wasn’t it like “extended responsibilities”?

.

I’ve heard that the ACT curves are predetermined. Does anyone know if this is true?

AND for the last question for the math section did anyone get 60?

@sarahdd i thought it was 300/7 haha

I doubt it’s predetermined as the exam writers can only guess at how students will do. I’m guessing that they go by percentiles after the test has been scored, 99th percentile = 36, 98th = 35, etc.

It was 300/6=50 I think

Cause 7 trees would have 6 spaces in between them, I hope so
