June 14 2014 ACT Discussion

Yeah I put it resembled the old culture because he based his work off of old pots and technically he “revived” it, so I doubt it would be outmoded

And I think prehistoric in this sense meant some hundred or 1 thousand years old, which it was

@SammyxB I dont know exactly but smothered doesnt really emphasize the ruggedness of the landscape. When u say the sun shattered over the landscape, it brings to mind a picture of the landscape breaking, or “shattering” the sun, which would enphasize ruggedness

@master1006 Yeah i agree with that, but i depends on if the question was referring to the past or the present. If it was referring to landscape before the sun rose, then smothered makes more sense because shattered could mean the landscape was once smooth. Yet if it meant after the sun rose, then shattered makes more sense. Then you could infer that smothered could even mean to kill or stifle which makes it even more confusing.

It was after the sun rose

Yeah idk… Haha. I need to read passage again to understand better.

Were there were two “whom” questions on the english? I can’t remember

Suppose i got: 7 wrong in math, 9 wrong in writing, 11 wrong in reading, 11 wrong in science… What would be my composite score? Is it possible for me to even touch 30?

@hrock500‌

28 english (suppose this was what u meant by writing)
31 math
27 reading
25 science

Sorry looks like a 28, maybe a 29 if ur rlly lucky:(

That scale looks a little off. Especially with the difficulty of reading

Reading should be at least -1 for a 36 so thats nice

I find it understandable about the reading section scale to be predicted to be like that for this ACT since the format was not of the norm (which a lot of people keep saying how it threw them off)

They did the same split the passage into two thing in october, right? So, I looked at my October scores, and I got a 33 with subscores 17 and 17. Going over all previously released scales I can say that the maximum I got wrong is 3. So, I do not think that there will be a -1 for a 36 kind of scale. I think it will go along the lines of 40, 39, 38, 37… That is their most common scale for the harder reading sections.

But that’s just my opnion

I think I got 3-5 wrong I don’t know…-sigh- I’m screwed.

And since the science section was relatively easier than past acts I would say that they will very very likely put a “skip” in the scales. Where they are going to place the “skip” i dont have a clue

I say all of this with going over many, many, many released tests. You might think that I’m obsessed, but I can assure you that I totally am.

The worst part is when you don’t think you got any wrong and you get many wrong.

I already know I got many wrong and I most likely didn’t get score I wanted…-sigh-

@caniaskaquestion‌ lol I think I failed the ACT science so does that mean I passed it? :)

No but I know the exact feeling in April when I felt like I aced the reading 100%. I was expecting at LEAST a 34 because I just had that feeling, yknow, when everything went perfectly. Lol I was shocked when I got a 31, no improvement from december ACT :frowning: , and now I felt the same way about this June ACT reading and now uve gotten me scared >:(

Lol but seriously I WILL be disappointed if I have deja vu of that moment ;)
