An NaCl solution has a lower freezing point than water BECAUSE NaCl has a greater molar mass than water

I got F/T because it said NaCl solution and not NaCl aqueous solution, anybody else agree?

Doesn't NaCl solution imply an aqueous solution (since no other solvent was stated)?

lol. jyankees that doesnt' matter.

NaCl solution has a lower freezing point --> that's why they put salt on ice to melt it..

that's because of the bonding, not because of the molar mass.. therefore it's T/F

For 2, it was highest melting point. Would that still be NaF? I put NaAt =(. Anyone care to explain?

Guys

1.5 atm X 8 L X 100 K = 200 K X .75 atm * V 2
1200 = 200 X .75 * v2
6 = .75 X V2

8 = V2

P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2.

There is your proof.

IT has to do with their electronegativies. F has the greatest electronegativity.

The rxn coordinate was F- T

IT is exothermic, hence the energy of the reactants is greater than the energy of hte products.

NaCl solution doesn't imply aqueous solution does it? I figured NaCl solution meant liquid NaCl...and therefore it would have a MUCH higher freezing
point than water

You're supposed to assume an aqeous solution when it states solution unless it specifically states it isn't an aqeuous sol'n.

really? that sucks, how do they talk about a solution of NaCl liquid then (yes, I realize that would be a very rare thing to talk about)

I donno. Molten Nacl?

You wouldn't say a "solution" of NaCl liquid... it would be called molten NaCl.

so then that question would have been T/T?

Dk-blue falcon, HF doesn't have the highest melting point,
The bigger the salt is, the strong the london dispersion forces.

Look the values up yourself, just type in NaF + Boiling point and some other sodium halide that has 1 more e- orbital..

Well, i donno then=/ I just took an educated guess.

ok queston... do the west coast and east coast take the same test? if they do.. how do they stop people from calling their friends from CA and cheating?

j/w lol

and question on the chemistry: was allotropes the awnser to like 2 of them?

I got put 02 and 03 were allotropes--that's one.

ok good me too

<a href="http://www.saltinstitute.org/15.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.saltinstitute.org/15.html</a>
<a href="http://www.webelements.com/webelements/compounds/text/Na/Br1Na1-7647156.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.webelements.com/webelements/compounds/text/Na/Br1Na1-7647156.html</a></p>

NaCl has a higher melting point than NaBr...so NaF DOES have the highest melting point

what was the awnser to the question about vaporizing somehting?
