June 2006 - Spanish

I was working for a 650- haven't taken AP Spanish- in order to get the Spanish credit at U of Penn.

I thought the test was all right. Don't think I got the 650 though.

There was a question in the beginning, like number 2, that was either pero or sino que. It had "no habla" in the predicate. I was thinking sino que because the verb was conjugated, but I was taught you don't use sino que if "No" isn't in the beginning of the sentence. So I just put pero.

What kind of passage was the one about the dog?

Collegeboard is going to kill you.

what is the curve like on spanish? raw score of 75 would be what?

No se. Solamente se que collegeboard te va matar porque estas discutiendo las preguntas en el examen.

i put pero too for that one because the second part of the sentence contradicted the first

I also put pero...I thought it was the only one that really made sense

o my goodness. i thought that test was harder than all those barrons prac tests i took! i have a few questions..

was it fortaleza for what you build around la ciudad?

what was the answer to that one in the instruments passage where you had to fill the blank with an adverb.. one of the choices was subitamente, which im sure is wrong, and also altemente, and something else.

what was the one in the one about shakespeare plays.. herramientos de ___ ? i put campeonatos, but not sure.

and lastly, the dog passage! ah what was so special about his machine.. did it go up to 120 km or did it have lots of motors? and what kind of passage was it?

dammit i shouldve left those blank, but i went ahead and guessed!

i put fortaleza...wrong-it means strength. dang

i believe the the answer to the motor one was that it had many motors. what kind of article did u say that was?

was it enamorarse con? i think that was one of the last grammar questions.

isnt a fortaleza a border? strength is fuerza and strong is fuerte

from wordreference.com, fortaleza second definition:

2 (construcci

o yes! you are correct- fortaleza, we all got it right :).

yes it was enam. de.

why is this test so hard to remember questions from compared to the others? probably because it is in a different language hah.

i thought it was the hardest out the three i took

it was harder than I expected it to be for sure

It Was Soo Hard!

I didn't take it but I heard from friends that it was really tough. I'm sure the curve will compensate for it though =)

If you had trouble with the SAT Spanish, I would say to use a different study book. I used REA's SAT Spanish Subject Test book, and it covered everything I needed to know except the vocabulary. The practice tests in it were way harder than the Spanish SAT, and I was so glad to know that I could understand every single reading passage on the test! The only thing I didn't quite get was the subjunctive tense, especially pluperfect.

By the way, most of my knowledge came right out of that book (I studied it for just two weeks). After all, at my school, we cram two years of Spanish into four. We don't have any speaking practice, and there is very little reading and very, very little listening practice.

Well, we'll get to see the scores in perhaps another week.
