June 2009 ACT Math Discussion

yes it was 1,3,4

how do you do the one with the lines of symmetry, i guessed infinitely many

It seems to be 8. It would have been inifitely many if there wasn’t a design with a bunch of different shapes and colors.

what was the answer to the question with the value of m

I believe it was 6.

The problem was x^2 + mx + n = 0 and the ONLY solution is x = -3, which means its (x-3)^2. That simplifies to x^2 + 6x + 9, hence m is 6. Not sure if that was the exact problem, but that’s roughly how it was

it was 1:3

there were a total of 4 of the things so for every 1 unshaded:3 shaded
like 20 kids in a class if 8 boys and 12 girls u don’t say 8:20 you say 8 boys to 12 girls

was the m question at the end of the section like 58 or something, if so what letter choice was it A/F?

dang i always miss a few cause of carelessness.

It was C/H, tbonus

me too. i will end up with like a 31-32 instead of 33-34 because 2-3 careless errors

what was the answer to the question with a,b,c,d and the clockwise and counterclockwise. i had acdb

haha im hoping for -2 35 because i missed two due to carelessness, surprisingly its never the hard ones either :(

Can’t remember though I know I got it right
It was ADBC or ADCB. Definitely AD first two but can’t remember what I put for the last two

8 wrong would be a 31 probably, right?

I hope…so I think that is how many I missed.

Not sure, by the looks of it, a lot of people (even people good at math) seemed to struggle with this one, which means the curve might be lenient. But I think a 32 is a good estimate.

I had acdb for that wierd circle one

Haha…I am terrible at math. I was confident up until probably #30 then I guessed on about 5 questions throughout that I just had no idea and ran out of time and randomly filled
in the last 10.

Is there any chance of a decent score (more than 20) skipping that many?

Guys, please read or search the thread before asking the same damn question for the 5th time.

Anyways, the ABCD one said the total circumference was 15.

There’s A.
B is 2 units CC to A.
C is 5 units C to A.
D is 7 units C to A AND 8 units CC to A.

So it’s A C D B.

can some1 compile the list of confirmed/agreed answers?
