June 2009 ACT Math Discussion

oh, and 8 lines of symmetry for me.

I really hope my calculator didn’t mess me up on any other question on the test, that’s really disappointing…i guess theres nothing i can do now though

i think i might have to go SAT (well assuming i don’t get a 31+ on this), and take that again in November after preparing again

i think i failed the math section lol

This one was definitely easier than Aprils in my mind. Maybe they were just easier questions, maybe because I studied more. But, I felt a lot better on this one, primarily because I had five minutes to spare when I was done.

m = 6

Since the solution was -3… (x+3)^2… x^2 + 6x + 9

now, there goes my 36.

haha naa this was definitely way harder than april…i got a 35 on math in april

How did you know n was 9…?

Same…o btw sry ya 8 was right…I put that now that I think about it. But ya…o well I got a 35 last april and think i got around a 34-33 this time.

still, i think if i missed one, i’d go down to a 35.

n wasnt 9 was it? i thought it said n was 0 in the question

im almost positive i got the very last one wrong, it was the absolute value one.

it was something like… which equation was the abosolute value of something 5 spots from -3?

what did u guys put?

i ran out of time and did A/F for the last 7 i hope a couple of those are right
everything else was pretty each up until that point

i put the first one, which i think is correct. it asked the set of all points 5 from -3, which is (-3 + 5) or (-3 -5)

and |x+3| = 5 would solve to be x = -3 + 5 or x = -3 - 5, which is what’s above.

ah i had to guess between 2 of them. i think i put the j one (or idk if it was that letter, but the one further down)

there were only 2 possibilities that would make it 5 units away, depending on the right way to go about it. those are the 2 i narrowed it down too

i put A for the last one as well…but it seemed WAY to easy to be the last question

The abs. value one was the first option… because it worked for both 2 and 5… or something like that.

Was their an answer which involved the law of cosines and was longer than the other answers?

There was a rectangle, no length/width given, and a bunch of lines through it, a bunch of shaded triangles inside the rectangle, then a square or quadrilateral that wasn’t shaded and it asked about the area of the unshaded thing… I said not enough info, anyone else?

no, you can do that question. i think it was 1:3
