June 2009 SAT INTERNATIONAL

does anyone remember sentence completion questions in the first CR section? for one question, i had to choose between two and don’t know if i chose the right one, but i can’t remember the question… please post a note if anyone remember any of the sentence completion questions…

Haha I like Emery. There’s like only 10 people that take it with you instead of the hundreds that are at UofT.

jglee, try reading the first couple of pages or go back a few pages and look for the list of compiled answers. You might see some questions from CR that popped up in section 3.

for writing multiple choice section, i don’t remember the question that starts with despite having… does anyone remember the wordings of the question?

Somthing to do with the movie being praised…lol if that rings any bells

Oh and I posted this earlier…but nobody responded and I’m kinda worried lol so… here it is again:

Hey so today, my friend told me he read about an article on how a flood of 9000 chinese local students flew to hong kong on saturday to take the June SAT. It’s because the June SAT fits with their schedule of the Chinese national High Examination…something like that…And we all know that these chinese kids are SOOO good at test taking (the memorize vocab like crazy and are super good at math). So…I was wondering if the SAT curve is predetermined, cuz if it isn’t, then aren’t these 9000 chinese kids going to screw up the curve?

so “as being scarcely believable” is grammatically correct?

We’ll just have to wait and see about the ‘9000 chinese kids’. I haven’t heard anything about this ‘flood’. Now if you know where that article came from…

And I think ‘as being scarcely’ question was a no error.

yes as being scarcely is no error :)

Hey guys do u remember what number was this question ?I dont remember it
What about the #29 which Answer D was (any other) ?

And the SC in the first CR section were easy and kind of obvious. The only disputatious one was #2 with ‘‘concrete vs fleeting vs steadfast’’ Still we havent reached agreement on this one.
There is another ‘‘interesting’’ debate in this section . ‘‘frustration’’ against ‘‘curiosity’’ in the ocean scientist paragraph .I personally put curiosity,as other people do ,but there are some who argue that ‘‘frustration’’ was correct .Who knows …

i put curiosity for the ocean scientists… but seems tt many other people still thinks that frustration seems correct…i guess can only wait until the results are out

I put curiosity too but I’m not too sure if it’s correct. The camera question is definitely fleeting, nothing else makes sense.

There was one question y=6x+SQRT(y) or something. If y=9, what is x. What was the answer? There seemed to be two answers in the multiple choice that fit this question. :O

@Collegiate Boy,
Can you exactly reproduce the ‘‘fleeting’’ sentence ?

I remember there was a question in the grid-ins section that was like

x=k/y ,where k is a constant. If x is sth and y is sth ,what is y if x is sth .THe answer was 20/3 .
However ,I really dont remember this one : y=6x+SQRT(y) or something. If y=9, what is x

Did you get the experimental math section? Hopefully it was there. :D

I can’t remember the exact sentence, but the gist was “blabla was a good photographer, he was able to capture ___ moments.”

Fleeting was the only one that seemed to make sense. :S

Well ,this blablabla is very important. It was like …
Not only she was able to take pictures of mundane activities ,but she also could capture ___ moments .We need the opposite of mundane (everyday activities) .Fleeting is sth that changes ,sth not very important.I think it is similar to ‘‘mundane’’ .THats why I put ‘‘concrete’’ .Concrete means ‘‘immutable’’ ,sth that does not change

I myself put ‘‘fleeting’’ and now feel sorry for this

fleeting
Adjective
rapid and soon passing: a fleeting moment

Mundane
adj.

Of, relating to, or typical of this world; secular.

Relating to, characteristic of, or concerned with commonplaces; ordinary.

I’m pretty sure fleeting is correct. Mundane means normal, or commonplace. Fleeting shows the event captured took place for a very short time highlighting the photographer’s skill? Concrete just means it is real.

We will see :)This is one of the few SC i have doubt about.THere was one about a general wanted to appear both ____ and ____ to the public .What did u put here ?
I chose charismatic and sth else but dont remember.Probably this was incorrect choice

i think that the answer for that question was something and compassionate… i believe it wasn’t charismatic… sorry

I think i put the compassionate one too, what were the other choices?
