I put theatrical flair. Her youthfulness was questioned in an another question asking something like “With what was the author most amazed”

i think it’s youthfulness
coz the whole paragraph stresses on how youngful the lady is

didn’t the passage indicate that she looked as if she was dressed up for stage or something? was it her make-up? anyway… i think it’s clear that theatrical flair is a better choice

No ! The whole paragraph stressed on the contrast between her appearance and her actual age.The woman is a writer people ,she has nothing to do with theater .Flair means gift ,talent .Besides that ,there was another similar answer choice - artistic appearance .Artistic appearance and theatrical flair is basically the same.I dont need to prove you that people who give theatrical performances are actors .

''lots of energy shown in lively body language when talking, flirting with the eyes, plus the general idea of youthfulness the author was attempting to convey in the paragraph and adjacent ones.

theatrical flair would be fine if the passage didn’t emaphasize on the “being younger than her age” part so much.‘’

I guess we will find out about curiosity vs frustration and flair vs youthful appearance when the test score reports are out.Until then ,everyone is free to believe in his answers ;)

What exactly was the question? I think it stated a specific sentence to look at? Because if it’s looking at the whole paragraph I agree it’s youthful.

It was a 10-sentence-paragraph when the author described her first impression with the woman. He emphasized how young she looked ,and all that ‘‘energy’’ , and ‘‘lively body’’ emphasized youthfulness,in my opinion. We will see ;)

Now i think that theatrical flair could be correct too  we shall see haha

come on shellsnail ,STAND YOUR GROUND !!! DOnt live me alone hahha

“leave” (not “live”) me alone :P

To CR7_ManUtd. According to my recent research Josephine Baker (the woman in the passage) was an African American expatriate entertainer and actress; not a writer. The man having dinner with the journalist and the woman, is I believe James Baldwin.
I’m looking for the original passage which is an essay by Henry Louis Gates Jr. So far I’ve found only this:
People said Baldwin was ugly; he himself said so. But he was not ugly to me. There are faces that we cannot see simply as faces because they are so familiar, so iconic, and his face was one of them. And as I sat there, in a growing haze of awe and alcohol, studying his lined visage, I realized that neither the Baldwin I was meeting – mischievous, alert, funny – nor the Baldwin I might come to know could ever mean as much to me as James Baldwin, my own personal oracle, the gimlet-eyed figure who stared at me out of a fuzzy dust jacket photograph when I was 14. For that was when I first met Baldwin, and discovered that black people, too, wrote books.

The last question asked sth about these final words and the answer ‘‘personal meaning to the author’’ or sth like this. This doesnt prove the flair-youthfulness debate

I’m not proving anything. I only noted that the woman “was” from the theater.
The quotation from the passage is not meant to settle any disputes.

tts pretty cool to find the article regarding the passage… anyway i put curiosity and theatrical flair…juz hope for the best…god bless…haha!~~

haha ,guys can you please remind me what was that SC with ‘‘squander’’ and ‘‘profligate’’ .And if you remember some other answer choices :)

And do you remember there was a question on the lawyers passages asking ''How would the author of passage II react to this statement … in passage I ‘’ I put sth like ''he will approve, because lawyers have rights to do so

^ I remember that question, but I don’t think I put that choice…I don’t remember exactly what I put to haha Don’t think anywhere in the passage did the author mention anything about “rights”.

Anyone know the other answer choices?

Regarding the “theatrical flair vs youthfulness” question, I put theatrical flair because the paragraph describes her career as an actress or a woman on stage. Somewhere in the sentence that the question addressed was something about “makeup” and the “stage”. It’s pretty obvious to me that it’s theatrical flair.

@ shellsnail

I don’t think the painter question was “peaceful”, more like “comforting” since prayers are considered comforting before going to bed.

hey the math qn with the two circles, the qn was asking for area of the two shaded circles or the area outside the shaded region? i can’t really rmb, but i put 26 because 50 (area of two circles) - 2x12 (area of shaded region).

^^The answer to this question was 37 :)
