@ Youwrotethis, statistically anything below a 800 on Math level 2 is “not good enough for the Ivy’s”, considering the fact that 10% of the people that take Math Level 2 get 800s, but still if the rest of your app is up to speed, then I don’t think a 800 or not on math level 2 will make or break your acceptance.

Well what I’m saying is getting a 700+ won’t significantly hurt my application right?

It won’t significantly hurt your application, however if you are applying to be a math major or a science major and claim math as a strength on your app, it might raise some eyebrows.

Alright… studying to the max till June 5th for that 800… haha

How accurate are the sparknotes tests for math 2?

omg i am terrified for this test…ugh 670 on barron’s diagnostic, and then 620 on the first practice test.
umm i’m taking precalc this year, but i’ve forgotten a lot of stuff by now, do u think it’s worth it to read through the entire barron’s book?

I’m in the same boat as you BlondAsian. I have forgotten soooo much trig.

@BlondAsian: I don’t think it’s worth going through the Barron’s meticulously… I did and it was a big waste of time. Just check out a precalc book and do a few pages of practice problems for the areas you need work on (after I type this I’m going to work out of my pre calc book on combinations, sequences, probablity, series, etc)

The Barron’s covers a lot of info that won’t be on the test, I suggest just taking lots of practice tests. I got a 650 on the Diagnostic, 660 on the first test, 610 on the second, and 660 on the third Just keep practicing and take the Sparknotes once in a while to see what your “real” score would be :D

I just got the
[Amazon.com: 15 Realistic Tests for the SAT Subject Test Math Level 2 (9781451582437): Rusen Meylani: Books](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1451582439/ref=oss_product)
and the book says to add 100 points to their score for the actual score. Is this really accurate?? I felt like these questions actually weren’t as hard as Barron’s.

Barron’s is ridiculous.

I got 790 on one of CB’s actual practice exams, 800 on one of Princeton Review’s, and only 700 on Barron’s Diagnostic test. It’s a pretty good tool to demotivate.

I get 690 on every Barron’s practice test. I got 730 on a CB released test. I am content with a 730. I’m considering not studying at all now because of it.

Is there any place to find CB or Princeton Tests online?

I haven’t started studying yet and have too much work to start until Sunday earliest. I’m a Sunday test taker. Do you think that a Sunday and a Saturday is enough time to study for this? I’ve taken precalc and have a sorta good grasp of math.

Sighhh frustration frustration… have taken a total of 3 Barron’s and 2 Sparknotes: Diagnostic Score=610, Current Score=690 (on Sparknotes) T_T I understand all the material I just have no idea why I suck :/

hey youwrotethis, what did u think of barrons?
Im trying to decided whether i should use barrons, collegetesprep, or sparknotes. do you guys have any suggestions, i dont want to spend too much money so id rather just buy one of these preps

I got a 670 on my last Barron’s practice test, ended up with an 800. Spark notes, I peaked on 770, however I did get a 790 and 800 on the official released practice Subject Tests from college board.
Barron’s is NOT meant to be taken as a projection of your REAL SCORE.

I ended up with an 800 on the real thing, however test day adrenaline improves my performance a lot, I ended up finishing with 25 minutes left and had that time to basically redo the first 25 problems, ended up catching 2 mistakes.

Things to know, that you probably don’t know through your general math skill:
Standard Deviation (Conceptually, although enter the formula in your calculator) - Almost ALWAYS one problem on this
Linear Regression - Almost ALWAYS one problem on this
Conics - Know them or get a calculator program that knows them, foci, eccentricity.
A conceptual understanding of trig will help you greatly. Period of sin, cos functions.

I used both these programs and they helped me immensely, lowering the time for me to do some problems from ~3 mins to ~30 seconds.

Have both of those.

How do you do standard deviation on calc? (Ti89)

I know how to do it on the TI-84, not on the 89, however it probably has to do with the “list” function on the 89.

Thanks. It worked

Sparknotes is available online, so don’t buy that
Barron’s vs Collegeboard… well Barron’s is crazy hard, and personally some people like that, but I don’t I might pick up collegeboard or princeton review this weekend and work through them to see an accurate score.

I would say go to the store and read through princeton/collegeboard and Barron’s. For learning the information, I think a combination of Barron’s and Sparknotes is good, but for the actual test feel go princeton/collegeboard

The only thing I don’t like about Barron’s is that it’s not accurate, but I do like the difficulty. Since you have about a week and a half, use Sparknotes and then just read through princeton review, Barron’s, and Collegeboard at the store and get the one that has the best explanations to you. Or if you already know the information, take a practice test on Sparknotes and if you get say 700+, get Barron’s :D
