Are you sure that we wont need to know matrices? I haven’t even touched matrices till now.

@ Youwrotethis I got 650s to High 600s on the Barron’s tests and ended up getting an 800 in may. Barron’s is ALOT harder than normal.
@ debarghya9 Use your calculator for everything matrix related, except for addition, scalar multiplication and 2x2 determinants (ab-cd).
@ Busterbeetle This test basically determines your ability to use as scientific calculator so get crammin’

Learn Standard Deviation and Linear Regression, there is almost always at least 1 problem on both of those.

ive never ever seen matrices/parabola/ellipses in math IIC.
for those of u who are using barron’s, I got 720 at first without any prep. I took 26 P tests, a stupid action which i think it is insane + pointless. nevertheless I ended up with an 800.

will PR suffice for a 700+ score?

Does anyone know where I can find a list of all the topics that appears on the test?

As for prep books, can anyone explain the difference between Kaplan’s and Princeton’s? Which one is preferred?

[Math 2 - SAT Subject Test Math Level 2 Information](<a href=“The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board”>The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board)

^List of the topics that appear on the test from collegeboard.com

How many can I get wrong/leave blank and get an 800?

I took one of the actual tests from College Board’s official SAT II practice book. I got 790 (missed 5, skipped 1, and I made a careless error - if I didn’t, I would only miss 4 and get 800). Is this an accurate measure of how I will do on the June test, or is it true that these tests are significantly easier than the one we will take?

Thanks, but I’ve already started studying Matrix. This question might sound a little irrelevant, but are 2 800’s and 1 760 better than only 2 800’s when you send your scores to colleges?

You should send in that 760, as long as it’s not Math I (cause all that shows is “Hey I’m good at math” and “Hey I’m really good at math”)

ryanxing: I think the official CB SAT II book is easier than the actual test to make you feel better. Not sure if it’s true, but it’s what I’ve heard from others at my school

^ But it was an actually released test.

=(

Anyone who has taken both CB’s practice tests and a recent actual test?

How well do we have to know stats, conics, and matrices?

Yes, I took the CB tests and the May test. I scored 800 on all three with similar raw scores.

Is Barrons really indicative of one’s actual score on the test? I recieved an 800 on the diagnostic, but the second practice test was much harder and more time consuming (38 raw score which, according to a conversion chart is a 750). I’ve heard Barrons is harder than the actual test. Is there another review book that more aptly reflects the actual test?

I’ve heard the same thing about Barron’s–that it’s much more difficult than the real test. Still, I scored a 760 on its diagnostic, so I’m not too sure about how much more difficult it is compared to the real exam.

There MIGHT be 1-2 questions on stats, so it’s not a major topic. Standard deviation’s pretty much common sense, so just remember/store the formula :)

Mm… conics is useful to know, but if you’re using a TI-84 graphing calculator, under the “Apps” button, there’s a conics section. It’ll graph the conic for you, but just know how to do completing the square to get the standard form. If it’s the formulas you’re worried about, those are in the conics section of the calculator too :)

And matrices… eh. I don’t see them often, but they could show up, so if you have time, just look it over (knowing how to find determinants & whether you can legally multiply 2 matrices together should be sufficient). There’s also a matrices button on the TI-84, so you can play around with that. It can solve for determinants and such.

I am getting totally destroyed by Barron’s… what’s a good way to cram?

@youwrote this - Barron’s Math II practice tests are notoriously really difficult, and a lot of people who get 600-700 on the Barron’s practice tests get 750+ on the actual test, so I wouldn’t worry too much if you feel intimidated because of the tests’ difficulty :)

Well I took a sparknotes test and got 690 T_T But that was like last week Oh well is 700+ a good enough score for Ivies? I really don’t want to take it again if 700+ is sufficient
