Did anyone get j^4 = k^3 for one of the questions?

Can someone clarify this problem for me?

Square ABCD has an area of 40 and a length of 6. The width of the rectangle is 8. Which of the following is the volume of the rectangle?

I got 320, since height has to equal 6 2/3 and V=LWH, so (6)(6 2/3)(8) = 320, which was not a choice. I left it blank, but can someone tell me what I did wrong?

@goldysocks
it was something like y= -2x+k and y= -2x+something…what value of k would give infinite solutions or somthing like that…

Yes, j^4 = k^3 was definitely right :)

by looking at all the other sections that are posted, obviously every person had one of the three sections as experimental. is that a given, or is everyone supposed to have the same experimental section?

jollybjolly I did.
Circular: It was a rectangle. You had to find the lenght of one of the diagonlas, which was 10, so height was 4. So it was 468= 192

thought so and it was E i remember

@Circular.

The rectangle with an area of 40 was formed by the diagonal & the height of the prism.
Because the triangle is an 8,6 right triangle, the diagonal is 10.
This means the height is 4.

8 *6 * 4

@goldysocks and cribelle

Thanks. I made a really stupid mistake then…

^ since 6 and 8 are the dimensions are the base, its diagonal is 10, which is also the base of ABCD. So the height of ABCD is 40/10 = 4, which is also the height of the solid. So V = 684 = 192.

why is 192 ?

the height of the triangle was 4?

why is 192 ?

the height of the triangle was 4?
^
It asked for the volume I believe.

the diagonal is 10, okay.

The rectangle problem was pretty easy… I don’t know why there is like 3 pages of debate about it. The answer is 192… draw it out and it is quite easy to see.

Does anyone remember if -m was choice E?

i think it was choice D
