June 2010 Math

@ben- all the consolidated answers are REAL, not experimental.

@quandry it was the ratio of students who took less than two years (9) to those who took more than two years (8), so the ration was 9/8

@aryus- you lose 1.25 for each wrong so 54-2*1.25= 51.5, and yes they do round up, so it would be a raw score of 52

^I thought you lost .25 for incorrect answers?

Goldy, I think he means you have 1.25 less than what you would have gotten if you had gotten it right.

Ah, okay.10char

what was the answer to the question that said arrange a four digit number. could you repeat numbers in that question i forgot

and do you know what the thread is to critical reading. that was harder then the math

It was 4 digit number that added up to 25. It was 9970.

Does anyone remember these questions? They’re the only ones I don’t recall doing at all on the test:

(0,a) 4x+2y=48-> 16
Pictograph of beach->C
2x+y was 104
j^4=K^3
9/8 french students
the meal was 36

Was the bus 36 as well?

Marjerina: I only don’t remember the pictograph of a beach question. The other ones were definitely on my test.

EDIT: Actually, I do recall the beach question. I just didn’t understand which question it was.

Yea the pictograph was very, very easy. (it was 2 pm or c if I remember correctly)

^Yes. 10 char.

Oh! Right, now I remember.
2x+y was 104 —> Was this the one where you had to solve for k?
(0,a) 4x+2y=48-> 16 ----> Was there anything more to this question?

1) yes.
2) no, you just had to plug in what was given.

Oh… then are the numbers wrong? If you plug in:
4(0) + 2(a) = 48, doesn’t a=24?

I’m not sure, maybe it was 3y?
I know the answer was 16 though.

I was about to say the same thing, I think it was 3y instead of 2y. It’s the only way it would make sense because I’m pretty sure that’s all you were given in the problem.

It was 3y.

Can anyone outline the chairs question. Where there were a certain number of rows and a certain number of columns of chairs and then some rows/columns were taken away? I recall that I got 50 for it… which seems to be very very wrong at this point, so I clearly messed it up. It was one of the grid in questions if I recall correctly.

50 was how much was left. 22 was how much was taken away. It asked for the amount taken away. That sucks.
