June 2013 ACT Thread

June 8th is the date. Any one took the sat subject test last week and are facing 2 standardized tests in 2 weeks? :D

Yep. My mind refuses to study any more. I’ve been on summer break since late May and I haven’t even gotten to enjoy much of it because I’ve had to study

I took subject tests last week! And now I get to take this test on Saturday! I’m still in school though so at least I’m still in study mode.

Yea I’m in the same boat w/ the subject tests last week. Anyone have any documents on grammar rules frequently tested on ACT?

In fact, the ACT has a special administration on June 2 only in Hong Kong.

So, yes, I took the SAT IIs and ACT in the same week.

Bleh. Poor you.

I wish everybody luck, I take it for the second time this Saturday too. Got a 21 last time -_- now sure how all of you get 30+

SAT subject tests last Saturday, Finals this week, ACT Saturday. Its a long week but at least when it is done I don’t have much going on to start my summer.

I take the ACT and then I have finals week.

Hi guys, I’m having trouble with this ACT Math question taken from the booklet “Preparing for ACT 2007-2008”

54) For a project… Kirk is making a tablecloth for a circular table 3 feet in diameter. The finished tablecloth needs to hang down 5 inches over the edge of the table, all the way around. To finish the edge of the tablecloth, Kirk will fold under and sew down 1 inch of the material all around the edge. Kirk is going to use a single piece of rectangular fabric that is 60 inches wide.

What is the shortest length of fabric, in inches, Kirk could use to make the tablecloth without putting any separate pieces of fabric together?

F.15
G.24
H.30
J.42
K.48

I do not understand what the question means but from my assumption of the question, I got J. The answer is K.

Anyone knows how to solve this? An illustration of what the question means would help.

Thanks.

@loltherock

The diameter of the cloth must be 3 feet (36 inches) PLUS 12 inches (6 inches on either side - 5 which will be hanging from the table, 1 which will be folded under).

36 + 12 = 48.

Since Kirk isn’t putting separate pieces of fabric together, the length can’t be any shorter than the diameter, so 48 is the answer.

Does that make sense?

This is my first time taking the ACT and just last saturday I took the SAT. I don’t know how much more I can study  I took a practice test and did worse on it than I did the first time! :(

15 hours everyone!

ACT this weekend and then finals starting Tuesday… ugh :(

Also this will probably be my last ACT test as I’m a junior. I scored 33 on my previous one so I hope I can improve on my last try!

Praying for an ACT miracle

I haven’t gotten a chance to study due to finals hoping the test is easy tomorrow

I’ve done a bit of studying, but I feel confident, so I haven’t done much. I did like one full practice test, which I got a 34 on, and then a few math sections.

I’m doing writing, which I haven’t practiced for. I’m awesome at AP Lang argumentative essays, so it should be easy.

been practicing this past week and have gotten a 36 on all the sections but a 35 on science as my highest. kinda more confident. I really want the 34+ since my past two have been 33s. I wish good luck to everyone and hopefully we have a generous curve coming our way. btw the 1296 ACT book is the best.

The test will start in about 11.5 hours. Good luck to all of you, and may the curves be ever in your favor.

Finished the test.

Good luck to those taking it later.
