June 2013 ACT Thread

Anyone want to predict the curve for the science test?

It’s bell curved so a little hard to predict, it depends on how the entire nation did

The entire nation did horribly. Now what’s the curve?

It would be more lenient… because they need specific percentages of people getting each score. So if everyone missed a question the curve will be better; they can’t have 0% getting a certain score.

The math absolutely destroyed me

@TeachMeHowto34. 100% sure it was “that.”

@Nspire: Yay, agreement. Happiness, yay.

No, but in all seriousness, I don’t know why I’m still so obsessed with finding out what I got right and wrong. Because even with a good English, Math, and Science score, my Reading was so trash that this became a wasted test for me. Sigh. Better sign up for the next one and cross my fingers.

If I used a #3 pencil for some of the bubbling, will the machine not take it – I know they say bring #2 (I had no idea I was even using a #3)

By the way, I always press down hard when I write. So maybe the machine will still pick it up?

Any thoughts?

similar question, my eraser went iffy on me and the questions I rubbed out were all smudged. I filled in the right one very darkly though, will it pick it up? I think I got 35-6 if it does

I’d imagine the machine would pick it up, unless it’s smudged an absolute ton.

Kid next to me had his calculator die early in the math portion. Double A batteries must’ve been old. My trusty Nspire was all charged up and ready to go. :)

I always feel sorry for those kids who have to take the SAT or ACT without a calculator…

Math section without a calculator? I’d die. Without my calculator, I wouldn’t have been able to stock up time for the last ten or so questions that always make or break me.

Anyway, after this ACT, I wish more schools I want to attend superscored the ACT. Reading wasted this test for me. Effin’ time limit. >.>

I thought this reading section was SUFFICIENTLY harder than the one in June. I thought I got a 34-35 R from June but ended up getting a 31. Now I bet my score isn’t any higher than a 27…

English was easy; I had to waste time as usual. Math was better than February, in my opinion. Reading and science killed me! Ran out of time for both, filled in C/H for the ones I couldn’t get to do.

Is this the red book everybody is talking about? Please somebody reply lmao…

I thought this ACT was prob. the hardest I ever seen/took. The science…***. I thought reading was a bit easier though since we didn’t have to read about some imaginary orange line, something like that. Math…I’m usually good at it (29-30ish) but this one was extra hard. English tested some vocabulary skills which I thought was unfair and against the ACT’s name.

Anyone else?

Also, probably like most of y’all, I’m going to take the test again in September 27, 2013. But I have no idea how to prep. I’m thinking about buying the red book, cracking the act, ad barron’s 36 and use all them as a combination as well waste my summer practicing.

Any thoughts?

Since it was unusually hard, the curve will probably be beneficial. If I get a 28+ I’m not retaking it. The English section was pretty unfair when it came to vocab. Science had some trick questions. Reading had too many potential answers. Math had more graphs and pictures than usual. That is my opinion. According to what everyone is saying, there should be a decent curve.

Prediction:
English: 30-32
Math: 26-29
Reading: 31-34
Science: 30-32

Mentally destroyed…
