***JUNE 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD***

Can someone please explain to me why number 16 on the science section was G instead of H from the link that someone posted above of the Pdf practice test?

@0br0123 I did! I used Baron’s 2014 ACT prep and when I took practice tests I would score in the mid 20s(anywhere from 25-28). I was super scared of what my score would be, but when I got the score back for the test I got a 31.

Those struggling with Reading

If you are a fairly fast reader, I have a suggestion. Skim the questions and circle what it is asking, like about a specific event or word, etc, but DO NOT spend more than 20 seconds doing this. Then, read the passage. As you read the passage, you will find the answers to the questions, and hopefully you will have absorbed the questions well enough to recognize when you find an answer. Answer the questions regarding specifics, and the rest are mainly about main topics or purposes of paragraphs.

I did this in a timed test and only missed 1, which is a 35. I normally make around a 30 without this strategy. Hope this helps and good luck!

I just made a 29 on a practice test, but I’m really hoping for a 31+… Good luck to you guys! Sleep well tonight!

Does anybody have any last minute tips? This is my first crack at the ACT.

And does anyone know the difficulty of Princeton Review? I have been using these practice tests and scoring fairly good, so how would my score shift over to the real ACT? Would the results be lower?

The test seems like it has changed a lot from the red book. She I should disregard any former strategies I had with the red book?

Are there double passages on any released test?

I just got a 34 on an english test from the red book and a 36 on a math test yesterday from the same book so hopefully it is accurate! Ive been getting a 30 on most of the practice tests Ive took from the booklets

Hey,

So I’ve been consistently scoring a 36 on both the English and Reading sections. I usually end up with a 31-32 on Math and around a 30-32 on Science. These are all in the 3rd Edition Red Book. My most recent score on Practice Test 5 was 36R, 36E, 32M, 29S (Composite 33). What do you expect my score will be tomorrow? Are Math and Science really significantly more challenging?

Thanks and best luck to everyone tomorrow

@tennisdude000 i got a 28-30 on all 5 of the red book but got a 25 on the actual april. -_-. the April in my opinion was significantly more difficult.

I don’t want to ruin your confidence, but practice test 5’s reading section was super easy. I scored a 36 as well even though I typically score between 31-33 on reading. Between test day anxiety and a more difficult test your score will probably be around 35E, 31M, 33R, and a 29S. I thought practice test 5’s science section was almost as hard as the april 2015 science, so it should accurately reflect your score

can someone help me w/ this questions

In one shot, my young grandparents toted crates filled with ripe fruit, and my mother sat on a [branch, peering] down @ the camera

F:
G: branch, which peered
H: branch that peered
J: branch peering

wait so can the research summaries and data representations have 7 questions or only 6?

WHO’S READY?!

(Not me)

Wow. I just took an old test and got a 31 composite. Way lower than I had hoped.

For the essay, is it like the SAT essay where if u write a lot you get a good score, or do they actually grade on your ability?

@AsianDoctor is it F? The sentence is saying that the mother is peering down, not the branch. So choice F is the only one that unambiguously makes clear who is peering

@AsianDoctor J? Don’t think you need a comma there

Everyone don’t forget to eat your omega 3s in the morning!!!
