***JUNE 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD***

Looking for a 33+ but keep scoring 31’s or lower on Reading. Am a fast reader but not a good ‘search through the passage and find the answer’ type of guy. Good luck to everyone though.

@AsianDoctor Yeah, I think its J!

Is it worth it to bring some review books in my book bag to look over some stuff before the test or is that too much?

If the science section is as hard as people are saying it was in April, I might skip an entire passage on the Science section, and put really hard work into the other 6 passages. All of my other section scores are always okay in the practice tests: between 30-35E, 28-33M, and 28-33R. The only thing I need to change is science. I keep making a 25 in science. No matter how hard I try.

Does anybody have last second suggestions that might be lowering my score? I notice I am making stupid mistakes. I never have enough time at the end to check over my answers like I do for English and Math.

Good luck to everyone else taking the ACT tomorrow.

@zorbinger @letmeseetheworld that’s what i got too but the answer says it’s F.

anyways. can someone help me with this question ?

Today, border collies herd sheep in much the same way as [your] ancestors did centuries ago.

f: nc ----x
g: their
h: it’s —x
j: its

can you refer to animals with “their and its”

@AsianDoctor it’s their because border collies is plural, not singular

@letmeseetheworld it’s F because you need to comma to clarify that it is not the branches who are peering down

*the comma not to comma sorry haha

@AsianDoctor I would say ‘their’ . You are referring to more than one.

Can someone answer my question about the essay. Do you get a good score, a 10 or over, on the essay like the SAT if you write a lot. Or is the ACT essay different

@SSick456 Thank you, now I’ve learned something new for the test tomorrow!

@emersonballer21 If you write a lot, make sure that your content is also good. Don’t make the mistake of restating your opinion over and over again.

Is the Ti Nspire CX allowed?

@MrAustere http://www.actstudent.org/faq/calculator.html

only CAS

Does anybody know for sure? I know that the CAS isn’t allowed, but how about just the regular?

Goodnight guys. Good luck tomorrow. Hopefully this will be the last time taking the test for most of us!

Non CAS Nspire is allowed, correct?

@emersonballer21 from what i understand, length does push your score up by a lot. on the April test I wrote a really average essay but it was around 3 pages long so I got a 10.

@MrAustere sorry I misread the link. Yes, it looks like non cas is permitted.

@letmeseetheworld Thanks! Good luck tomorrow. This is my first time. Any tips?
